    Jodi,
I actually knew about the little trick, but hadn’t made the change. I was afraid I wouldn’t like it. LOL I’ll make the change next time I’m in my editor, though! I’m pretty sure I can make it a default change, even in PSE6.

But what I only recently learned was about setting my PPI when I crop, and was glad to see you set yours then, too. What I’m wondering is, can I go into an already cropped photo and change the PPI up to 300 without affecting the quality of the photo for print?

p.s. would you mind emailing your response to me as well? I couldn’t find a way to subscribe to your comments and I’d love to read your answer as soon as you have it available. :D

as long as you do not decrease the pixels – so for example if your photo is 4392×2906 (14.5×9.6 inches at 300ppi) – if you change crop it you would not want to crop bigger than the original – making pixels stretch out. That same photo is also 60×40 at 72ppi. Means the same thing. So if you crop that 72ppi one – you would want it 14.4×9.6 or smaller at 300ppi.

    make sense?

Thank you for the tutorial! I’m just getting started in photoshop, and knew how to crop, but it always took me about 10 more steps until now! This is my first time on your blog, and now I need to spend as long as possible learning all there is to learn here. I got here from DPS, and I’m thrilled to have found your blog!! Thanks again!
