My New Years resolutions are to learn more about my camera (I’d like to shoot more in manual mode) and lighting and how to use them more effectively. To take more pictures esp. portraits of my kids that don’t suck lol, and to get better at photoshop so I can try to salvage pictures that do suck. ^_^;
I would like to get a better handle on my cameras controls and also improve my Photoshops skills. I can use actions, but would really like to understand more of the manual steps. A big part of me advancing in photoraphy is finding my own style and groove. To really enjoy it! I would be so blessed to win this!!
My New Years resolution is to be come a professional photographer. I have minimal training but I am very eager. I am new to photoshop. I want to learn it all.
thanks for your consideration.
Well since starting my business in October, I have learned so many things, but have tons more to learn. I just want to concentrate on growing my business, getting more clients, getting more equipment, and learning as much as I can to produce better pictures. That sounds like plenty! haha…just found your site and LOVE it. Thanks
My wish is to win this prize! My goal is to better my photography skills before baby number 2, so that I don’t have to pay for professional photos!
I am going to try to figure out how to get exposures right in camera. I also want to improve with off camera flash.
My New Year’s resolution is to buck up and finally start making some money with my photography!
My resolution for 2009 is to take more photos. I would like to learn the ins & outs of post production & along with how to take a properly exposed photo each & every time or as close to it as possible. Thanks
I want to develop a streamlined workflow from camera through post processing to print output that reflects my photography style. Everything now feels way to scattered and unfocused.
My resolution is to get my Web site up and going. I have waited long enough and would really like to accomplish this goal by the end of Jan. In general, I want to just better myself in regards to photography, my workflow, and Photoshop.
My goal for the next year is to fully understand my camera’s manual settings (nailing focus and correct exposure) and to be proficient enough in lightroom and cs4 that I have an effecient workflow. That and to get out and shoot more pictures (LOL). Happy New Year!
My photography goals for 09 are to continue to learn (manual, manual, manual). I want to continue learning CS4 and begin Lightroom. Taking this class would be amazing! Thanks for the contest, Jodi.
I have several…my New Year’s Goals are:
to be more efficient at photo editing (which in turn gives me more time with my family).
to perfect my lighting & exposure.
to stay true to myself & keep the creativity high.
My new years resolution is to become organized so that I can market myself better and to really KNOW my speedlight!
For 2008 my goal for photography is to not get frustrated when things don’t turn out the way they should. I am just starting out and I have set a goal to learn something from each time I fail instead of just getting down!! Also another goal is to learn how curves work in photoshop. Happy New Year!
My resolution for 2009 is just to be less lazy! In other words make an every day choice/effort to eat healthier, move my body more, pick up my camera and shoot more, etc etc!
Great contest!!
I want to go back and work on the basics — the technical end of shooting. Its been almost 13 years since I first took that class, so a little refreshing would help!
flash, flash, flash! …gotta learn the physics behind artificial light.
Lighting! I need to get better at lighting…studio,outdoor,shadows..but specifically flash..
In 2009 – I really want to learn how to work with my camera better. I am happy with the shots I am taking but know they could be so much better. I have such a hard time not getting flustered with the settings on my camera – I want to know them like the back of my hand and be able to take time to stop and breath.
My goal is to immerse myself in photography. starting with the basics, to position your subjects and lastly working in photoshop.
I have been taking photography classes for over 10 years but finally started my photography business a few months ago. I LOVE photography, but I really need to learn more about the marketing/business aspect of it. I don’t want the business “stuff” to ruin the joy that I get from photography. I just purchased my Canon 5D September and so I want to learn more about what my camera’s capabilities are as well as my own capabilities are. Also, most of my shoots take place outdoors and I want to learn more about lighting and focusing tips.
I just happened upon you website and am so excited. I finally got my Cannon Rebel Xti after my 35mm bit the dust a few years back. I am excited to re-learn how to use a more sophiticated camera. So that’s my resolution.
I want to learn how to manipulate curves in photoshop and how to always get sharp images in any lighting situation.
I could probably list a million things that I need or want to learn in the next year, but really, most of those boil down to one simple concept: take it slow, take a deep breath, and remember the basics.
I got a Nikon D50 two years ago for Christmas. I took a digital photography class at school – which turned out to be using photoshop – not using the camera. I REALLY want to learn how to use my camera AND photoshop. I look at all the great pictures people take and I just have an urge to learn how to do it like the “pro’s”. I am a single mom and a full time college student with a very limited budget and would LOVE To have the opportunity to take this online class to better my photography and photoshop skills. I devour everything I can find on photography and photoshop, but it still doesn’t quite click. Having a personal coach to help me through the process would help so much. Thanks for providing all of these awesome contests and wonderful tips.
My resolution for 2009 is to become better with lighting – both natural and artificial lighting sources. I want to better use natural light and properly positioning subjects in natural light as well as start to experiment with off-camera flash to enhance my images and creatively experiment with my images. That will require me to pick up my camera and shoot more – and to take the time to experiment.
i got a Nikon D60 a month ago and it is a lot of camera for a good ole P&S girl! so my resolution for the new year is to designate time to my camera every week, just like i do for my family, work and other hobbies. and to make a notebook of notes and print outs to keep in my camera bag as a quick point of reference. i hvae learned a lot the past few weeks and thank goodness to my good friend that pointed me to your blog b/c i have learned a lot! i am going to spread the word as well!
I resolve to be better technically (shooting and editing). I am new to the biz, so I am constantly reading and researching things. I think that this is even an resolution that I can keep!
My resolutions for 2009, is to learn how to use my digital dslr camera, out of auto mode! I want to learn how to take better pictures, I also want to learn how to use Photoshop Elements, I soooo need help in both these areas! I just need some clarity. I’ve been reading all kinds of things online & trying to practice. I read about these “self taught” photographers, I hope I can do it! I’ve had point & shoots for years, but this is the first dslr. I need help!. At least I found your website!!!
One of my main resolutions is to learn how to edit in Photoshop and Lightroom. (I just got them both for Christmas! YAY.) I felt confident in Photoshop Elements but I don’t have the hang on my new programs yet. I want to learn how to fix one spot that was too overexposed (too much flash in one area), use the clone stamp feature, and get a better feel for the best edit on all my photos. I really hope I win!!! ☺
In 2009, I resolve to get my business up and running and to be more confident in my work. I could go on and on, so I’ll leave it at that. Thanks, Jodi.
My New Year’s Resolutions: Become a better business woman by being more organized, quicker on my responses to clients and my post-processing, learn how to advertise myself better and better SEO for my new website. I plan to raise my prices to what I’m really worth and finish my website as well as design the new blog finally. I need to be organized in my personal life and learn a better balance between business and home. My other goal is to expand my family one more time!
My resolution is to go through all the Photoshop Tutorials I’ve bookmarked over the past couple years and do one at least once a week. I also resolve to go through my Tutorial book again by doing at least one chapter once a week.
My goal this year is to get some kind of flash. Therefore, I need to learn more about lighting. That’s what I’d like to learn!
My goal is to become more efficient and accurate at determining the best Aperture.
This next year I would like to learn about photography in general. My brother is a professional photographer and I would like to be able to go on shoots with him and actually know what I am doing. I also want to take lots of awesome pictures of my children. They are only young once and I would like to capture these precious moments in the best light. I love what I have seen of your work.
I would love to learn more about getting the exposure dead-on, so in photoshop I only have to run the fun actions…not color correct, correct exposure, etc.
My resolution is to learn as much as I can so I can start a photography business on the side. I love it when I take fantastic pictures of my daughter and I would like to give that feeling to other parents.
