We are on vacation this week in San Diego. It has been kinda crazy. Those of you who follow me on Facebook and/or Twitter may have already heard. On Friday I went to my twins’ school for their Valentine’s Party. In Ellie’s class, 7 kids were sent home sick with the stomach flu, and others had it earlier in the week. I just knew, you know how moms just know… It was gonna catch up with us. And it did.
On the plane to San Diego Saturday, 20 minutes before landing, Ellie says, “my tummy hurts…” On the way to the bathroom, boom – throw up. Guess that is why they have those tiny little white bags. We are told we have to get back to our seats as we were about to land. Then… “Mommy and daddy, my tummy hurts again.” This time, everywhere… And we cannot get up. We land but we are near the back of the plane. Once more… Oh no. I gather every little white bag I can find – but they are simply not big enough.
So I rush Ellie in a cab to the hotel, while Matt takes Jenna to rent a car, get luggage, etc. She threw up a bunch more throughout the night. Bad news. Then Sunday, she gets a fever, is scared to eat (literally ate 6 saltine crackers from AM to PM) and has no energy. Today she felt a little better but has super sunken eyes and still afraid to eat. Lunch was a bite of food. Dinner finally, she ate – her pick – sushi (no worries – she just ate edemame and cucumber roll – no raw stuff). Please do me a favor and cross your fingers that Jenna, Matt and I do not get this terrible flu, as we want to enjoy a few days of our vacation. Oh – and it rained most of the day here, hard rain too. We managed a trip to the Aquarium for an hour and it was just nice to get out of the hotel room.
I did take a few photos in La Jolla and at the Aquarium – but it may be a few days before I take them off the camera. But you know next week I will share photo from my trip.
Anyway, back to the lighter part of this post. The silly photos from my readers. Before heading to bed, my twins picked these 5 as their favs. I was gonna label and add links to them – but my internet here is not super fast. But you can look most up by checking out the comment section last week that has links. Thanks for understanding.

Gosh I am so sorry your trip has not been what you thought it would be from the start – sick little ones are NO FUN! I hope she bounces back today and that NO one else gets it! The silly faces are great! 🙂 Have a nice vaca!
Those are so adorable.
Ha! They are all pretty funny, but the stuffed animals riding the motorcycle takes the cake! 🙂
so sorry your daughter is sick!! what a nightmare. hope she is better and that everyone else stays healthy. love the braids sticking up!
Oh man, my heart just goes out to you and your little one. What a way to start a vacation. I’m praying Ellie will be up to her usual joyful sillyness in no time and that the rest of you will remain healthy as well. My son and I had a lot of fun making our entry and we both thank you for the honor of making the final cut. I definitely got a chuckle out of all of the great entries. You people are a hoot!
Sure hope your little one feels 100% soon and that you all escape the dreaded virus. I remember 2 years ago when we all got the stomach virus in Disney (kids were 4 and 6). We all fell like dominoes! Amazingly, the kids only recall the fun! Kids!
wOW THANKS iM SO EXCITED WE MADE THE CUT!!
The rain has finally ended in San Diego and the sun is out. I hope the rest of the trip leaves you with much better memories of your vacation. If you need any new suggestion on what to do in San Diego, here are descriptions for kid-friendly attractions: http://thebestplacesinsandiego.com/travel/vacation-theme/fun-kids-vacations/. You will also find a category of places where you can enjoy scenic views of the area. Thought that might be of interest for taking photographs.BTW, great to meet another upstate New Yorker. I lived in Syracuse until I was 11 and still go back to visit relatives.
Tim,Thank you so much! We are debating between the Wild Animal Park and the Zoo for tomorrow. We spent the day at Sea World today. The girls had a blast, as did I. I must say it is one of the most expensive places ever – they get you every time you breathe. LOLWe are thrilled that the rain is gone and having fun now.Jodi
I’m so glad my daughter made your daughters laugh! I hope they start feeling better!
Great blog, there is so much that San Diego has to offer. It’s so unfortunate that your daughter got sick–on the plane, no less! But hopefully she gets better, you all are feeling better and you enjoy the rest of your stay in “Sunny” (rainy) San Diego.
