Name Your Dream Assignment and Have a Chance to Win $50,000
I’ve just learned of a great opportunity I want to share with all of my photographer friends. Whether you’re just starting out or have a great portfolio, Name Your Dream Assignment is a chance for you to go anywhere in the world on assignment.
The Name Your Dream Assignment is sponsored by Lenovo and Microsoft. Its organizers are inviting anyone to submit an idea for a never-done-before photo shoot. Everyone will have a chance to vote on their favorite idea.
*** And the BIG NEWS about this contest… ***
I have been chosen to be on a small panel of judges that will select from the top 20 most creative and inspiring suggestions to pick the winner! I cannot wait to help judge this knowing I will play a roll in deciding what person will win such incredible prizes and have such an amazing opportunity.
The winner will get a $50,000 cash award to fulfill their dream assignment plus lots of goodies including a Lenovo W700ds laptop computer, specially designed for photographers. After seeing the videos on their site for this laptop, I want one!
This is a wonderful chance for starting photographers to enter the profession and to be recognized for their photography accomplishments through their creativity and imagination, rather than just their connections. It is the idea that counts. You don’t need to be a pro photographer, or even to have a portfolio. All you need is a dream.
Established photographers will get great exposure (sorry about the pun!), and a great assignment of their own making.
To learn more or enter, go to: http://www.nameyourdreamassignment.com.
So share your dream and maybe it will come true.
*** Unfortunately this competition is open to US residents only. Hopefully they will run one in the future that those outside the US can participate in.

Thank you for letting your readers know about all of these great contests! How cool!
Jodi – you have no idea how timely this is! My closest friend is adopting a baby girl from China, and I would love to go with her to document her adoption story! I just registered!
Jodi – I’ve followed your site for a while. It will be exciting to see who wins.
I posted my idea last night to create a photography book illustrating the triumphs, successes, and losses faced in the battle with cancer. The profits from the book will go to cancer research. It seems that these days it is rare I meet someone who hasn’t been affected by this disease somehow, someway.
Congratulations on being picked as a judge!
What an awesome opportunity for you Jodi! Super-huge congrats.
Once again a contest that is using the WORLD WIDE WEB to advertise and yet it is closed to 80% of the world.
boohoo me
Thanks anyways for the info and enjoy the judging process.
I agree with you 100% Adam – I was approached a few weeks ago to judge. And it is a great opportunity. When I learned that it was not open to the world I was surprised. They said it has to do with certain laws in other countries. I am guessing they need to better understand those and did not want to hold up this contest in order to see which countries required what, etc.
I will give your input on the disappointment and recommend that if this goes well that they find a way to do it again and include more countries.
Thanks!
Jodi
What an awesome opportunity! I submitted mine yesterday (http://tinyurl.com/cs22tp) about photographing children in orphanages for couples pursuing international adoption. Thanks for posting about the contest – I never would have known otherwise. =)
Hey, no worries. TWIP does contests all the time and they are closed to everyone except the U.S. We kind of get use to it.
We do our own contests here … but give out snow shoes and dog sled rides as gifts …
Thanks for covering this, and congrats about being picked as a judge! Competition is pretty tight right now and there’s a lot of good ideas. I think it’s a great idea for a contest, and I can’t wait to see what comes out of it.
As a contestant, It’s already brought me closer to other photographers involved.
Congrats! So many good entries are already posted. You’ll have a tough time picking only one!
Congrats on being one of the judges! It must be really exciting!
I wonder if it would be OK to share my project in the comment space with your readers?
Thanks!
sure you may
I can not believe the amount of quality material that exists on this site. The site is extremely eye catching and pulls the reader straight in, the articles are great quality and are very professionally written. I have seen too many of these sites where it looks like they pay an 8 year old to do the writing – Not this one. Your site is easily the best that I have seen in a long while.
Really, great stuff to read, keep up
