Your Web Presence * Contest: Win a Show It Web Pro or a Show It Site

David Jay’s company Show It Fast helps photographers take control of their websites.  With Showit Sites photographers can create something completely unique and continually show their clients who they are and what they do in a way that is 100% their own . Artists need to show how they are different and unique.  A template website just can’t do that.

Showit Web slideshows allow photographers to create stunning slideshows in minutes and upload them onto to the web.  Having the ability to display your work quickly to the masses is best way to get people to start talking about your work first. Here is an example of a slide show – showing the MCP Action Set “All in the Details.”

I am very excited that ShowIt Fast has donated 2 very generous prizes for me to give away on the MCP Blog:

- Show It Web Pro (an amazing, easy way to make slide shows) – $199 value

- Show It Sites (1 full year of Show It Site website service) - $468 value

One winner will be picked for each prize.  I am making this an easy contest to enter.  Just comment below on ”How important is your Website and/or Blog is to your Photography business? Explain if you feel you have full control of your web presense? What would you change about your current site and/or blog if you could?” Winners to be picked at random on Sunday the 29th.

When I announce the prize, anyone who has commented will be eligible for nearly $50 off Show It Web Pro and almost $100 off a Show It Site.  So check back for your code to save LOTS OF $$$.

A web site can make or break your business. Our society has become so internet based. I know that I am referred quite often through my web site. I feel that a web site can attract the kind of clients that I would like to have. I would love to have a more updated web site that will attract the clients I am seeking. I would love to have the ShowIt Web Pro. I have been wanting to update my web site for some time but due to the current economic issues I have been unable to.

I would also love to have a web site that is user friendly. I know a little HTML but not enough and I often get confused at how to make it better. If I could change one thing about my current web site it would be to be more “hip” and up to date. I love the idea of a slideshow. I don’t have that option on mine right now and I think that would be a great plus for my clients.

I would love to win this! I currently have a blogger blog, which has been HUGE for my business (blogging in general) but is very tough to customize. I have a template site, but I think it would be better to be more unique and have larger pictures. My site is my #1 marketing piece. I’ve never had a client who hadn’t seen my website before booking.

Cool, I have a website but not a blog yet. These sites are great because you can make the site just the way you want to.

It is so important, but my current web presence is very lacking.. I only have my blog up right now. Been working on my Showit Site for a while, but I haven’t subscribed yet, so this is perfect! That’s the thing i need to change; get my portfolio/site up as soon as possible. And blog more often!

I’m a fairly new business and photographer and I would love to have a strong web presence to display how serious of a Photographer I truly am. I don’t think people take me as serious because I am so new and don’t have years of experience. But I am serious about my craft and I always continue to evolve and get better. I currently made my own website and branding, but would love to re-establish myself as an artist. I’d love re-do my website and have a more professional feel. I truly value having a proper blog and website and having a professional website using Show It is a HUGE step forward for someone as new as me. Thank you again for this fabulous opportunity and consideration.

A website is where you present who you are and what you have to offer to potential clients. What could be more important than that for business? Having a professional site shows that you are a serious professional which will allow you to attract serious clients who value photography. I Love David Jay’s work and have been looking into his slideshow. Would love to win! :)

web and blog presence is VERY important to our buisness. i love show it sites and how different they are from everyone else. what i really love, is showit web. sweet!!!

I love Show It Fast! I have been wanting to purchase this for awhile now. My business is less than a year old and I have recently upgraded both my blog and website. I love both! I think next to great pictures, your website is the next most important thing about your business. I have to say though, my blog is by far my favorite! I love blogging about new shoots, or life in general! I would love to add Show It Fast to my site, blog, facebook and MySpace!

I think the website and blog is incredibly important. It shows the client what you can do and what they can expect when they ask you to do their photo session. It is also a place to let your personality shine through. Are your photo sessions fun? Are you friendly? spunky? businesslike? They will see all of this from your site.

Without my web presence: I wouldn’t have a business. My website, blog, twitter, and facebook presence are integral for a web 2.0 photography business. If I had magical powers, things that I’d really want to refine are having a full fledged professional blog and a professional design for my showit sites website. Possibly a program that allows me to make slideshows easily ;)

  11. 111

My website is super important for my business. That’s where my potential clients always go first. I’ve had the same site for two years and I’m SOOOOO tired of it. I think that my website needs to say a lot about who I am it just doesn’t right now. I would love to use show it sites so that I could have more control over my site, customizing it to reflect more of me. What a cool program!

    Julie Ranee says:

My website and blog are the first chance potential clients have to see my work. They are very important. I would like bigger images on my site and blog to make more of a statement.

  13. 113

My website is super important to my business. It seems to be the first things that people ask you about when they find out your profession. Too, it serves to handle commerce which most of the time is the easiest way for people to shop and pay these days. Since I typically deal with Children & Families… the convenience of web viewing and shopping serves as a great asset to my business. I feel like I do have control of my web presence but am in need of a makeover… investing the time to do so just hasn’t been a priority and it should be. I would go with a new web design… I don’t think that I can afford a unique design, but a new template would be nice… I need to add new images that I’ve taken over the past several months.

    Lacey says:

Building my web presence has been absolutely essential in building my business. I wish I had better control over my brand. Being a small business, just starting, with limited funds it brings around a challenge to custom design sites and blogs which all visually represent one unified brand. I want people to see only a small part of my website and instantly know it is me.

Please Help! Come on lucky numbers!

On February 1, 2009, I switch website companies and launched my new site!! The funny (yet very scary) thing is that I haven’t received one inquiry for my photographic services since that day. I mean, what the &#%$?? This is my 3rd year in business and typically when I book most of my weddings for the season. So, what gives? Why hasn’t anyone emailed me since the launch of my new site? I keep asking the same 3 questions. 1) Is something wrong with my new site? 2) Is it the economy? 3) Is it because I’m a slacker for not starting a blog? I honestly think it’s a combination of all three but mainly because I’m not taking full advantage of the best technology available today. Showit Sites is definitely the most current and fresh website presence by far. As our industry becomes more competitive, it’s extremely important we keep up with the latest & greatest ways to promote our businesses. I would absolutely love to be apart of the Showit Sites movement and launch a beautiful & distinctive website created ONLY with Showit sites!! And of course, finally start a blog!

    Kelly says:

I think your blog/website is VERY important to your business. It’s your portfolio and the first impression you make when people are checking out your work. It should say “you” and should say it loud! I would SO MUCH love to upgrade my blog and make it more professional looking and I don’t even have a website yet. Some day when it’s in my budget!

I mostly shoot sports but would LOVE to have a real web site for my portraits. I have seen some trafic at the so called site I have now but with something like this I feel it would put me up with the “Big Dogs” in our town. I can not change my site to what I want because of where I have it they have thier own templates that we must use and they are not what I feel I want. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication you share with us.

    Wendy says:

I am working so hard on building a web presence. I want my site to stand out from the others. RIght now I have a Blu site and feel like I can’t do anything else to it because of restrictions. I love the versatility of a show it site. I would make my site more “fun” looking as well as try to attempt to have it capture who I am as a photographer. THank you for this opportunity!

  19. 119

I just purchased Show It sites today!! But I don’t have showit web and would loooove it! It’s next on my purchase list. I definitely need bigger pics – my current website and blog just has pics that are way too small…

  20. 120
    Sarah V says:

Right now I only have a customized blog because I do not want to use a template like everyone else does and I don’t know what I am going to do for an official site just yet. I do feel like having a blog or site or some sort of web presence is absolutely essential.

  21. 121

Where does everyone go? The internet. I don’t care what a person is looking for she will not step out of her door without surfing. That is my moment. I have a brief 3 pages on Google to capture my market. I don’t care how awesome of a photographer I am, if I don’t have the www storefront to bring them to me I will enjoy my work all by myself. Right now my web presence is pitiful. I lack the tools and individuality to effectively sell myself online, so I would say I would change just about everything. Do I have full control right now? Absolutely not! I’ve got half a dozen templates to pick from & no room to be different!

    Alanna says:

I only have a blog up at the moment and it is my only means of advertising currently… so pretty darn important. I currently have full control but still learning the back end stuff so I have the knowledge to be in control. UPDATE IT! Love the Show it Web stuff. Fingers Crossed. Thank you Jodi and David.

  23. 123
    Malia says:

I just have a blog right now… I’m still getting started but here it is super important to have a Blog AND a website. The website to really showcase your work and the blog to help clients really get to know you a little bit more. Also it makes it so you always have your latest work up on your blog. My blog and word of mouth/referrals are my only advertising so I need to really make sure that its a good one. I need to be better at it and I also need to start up a website! If I were to change something it would be actually having a site and then also blogging more frequently.

as a photographer, i would much rather spend my time behind the camera than in front of the computer. i feel as if tools like Show It Web Pro and Show It Sites allow just this. they help take care of the business so you can get down to business….am i right? i’m right. i’m too much of a perfectionist to allow someone else to design and have control over my website and web presence. my knowledge in design/coding has been a learning process and while the look and feel of my site has grown and improveded as i’ve grown and learned more as a designer, i would love to have the ability to take things to the next level….with ease.

  26. 126
    Bert Pohl says:

Without a website, I would never have gotten my photography business off the ground. It has provides the one single means to break into wedding photography in upstate New York.
My present website & blog lacks creativity, mainly because I don’t have the flash skills to express myself freely through a website. If I had the software that would allow me to take my ideas to a computer screen like I take pencil to paper, my site & blog would have changed ages ago. Without this, It’s like I’m walking on amputated feet.
I need to revamp my present website and blog. Visitors need to see and experience my personality better and shooting style, and I know brides would appreciate smoother picture galleries with better navigation controls.
Eventually, I’ll get there, but I’d like to speed the process up.

  27. 127
    Jeanmarie says:

My website is the ‘face’ of my business. In many cases, it’s my only shot at grabbing someone’s attention…gaining their interest. Aside from WOM it’s my only ad. and what I’ve got going right now is sadly lacking!

  28. 128

In a world where most people start and end their search for a photographer on the web or by a friend’s referral, having a functional and professional website is the most important thing you can do for your business. I don’t like that most photographers in my area purchase their template sites all from the same place (myself included). I want more creative input without spending $10,000 to get it.

    Jessica says:

Web presence is more than just the ability to (quickly) retrieve information. For many people, and this is growing as I type, web presence is a way to connect, to form relationships, and to grow. I am just starting my photography business. I am determined to have a web presence that reflects who I am as an artist, as well as my style, exactly so that I may form relationships with my clients, via that website and blog. I want my clients to feel that they have made a connection when visiting my site – that they know the type of artist that I am, and they know that they do, or do not, want to choose me based on that. A strong web presence also helps me keep my individuality.

  31. 131
    Christine N says:

I think your website and/or blog are key to a successful photography business. Clients want their information fast so they go online. In order to successfuly compete with other photographers you have to have an easy to use website that catches their eye. Also, a blog shows so much more of your personality. They really get to know who you are not only as a photographer but as a person. The reason this is so important is because you have to have a good chemistry with your client. It doesn’t matter how good your photos are, if you don’t get along great with your client it is not going to be a good experience for both parties. I am currently rebranding my photography and designing my website so my ShowIt Site isn’t running. I do have a blog though and I keep it updated as much as possible. I think ShowIt Web would be so beneficial for my business. Thanks so much for having this contest! :)

    Amanda says:

As I am reading all the posts, I am agreeing totally to all of them. Amazing advertising is SO important, friendly websites or blogs that show the best, and easy access. No one wants to go for a loop when trying to find a great photographer. Winning either package would be SUPER! I am new at the website and slideshow ideas- I know they would benefit my business tremendously! Especially the slideshow! I am looking for a great way to show my clients their pictures.. what a great way!! Please pick me :) It would spark my site! Thanks so much!

  33. 133

My website and my blog are mega super important. I’ve been working on getting my branding all straight and I can’t tell you how hard I’ve been working at creating a website and next will be a new blog that both completes and compliments my branding. I also think that in this day of using google rather than the phone book, having an awesome web presence is part of the equation for photography success (obviously your photographic ability being the most important)

  34. 134

A fantastic web presence is essential to my business. 100% of our clients visit our website before coming to our studio or booking a session. I currently have a blog and a site that works well but both are based on templates. As soon as I purchased one of my templates, another photographer in the same area purchased the same one as I did. So, I am a little frustrated and I’d love to have the opportunity to make something uniquely my own!
The site I’d build would be clean, simple and sophisticated. This would be such an exciting opportunity!

  35. 135
    Catherine says:

No website yet. I would definitely have to say that a website would make a huge difference. I also think that branding is critical and the look and feel of someone’s website says a lot about them and the type of work they do.

  36. 136
    Josh Thomson says:

I’m just getting started as a photographer so don’t have a website yet, but do feel that it is important for your business. It gives people a sense of who you are. Your blog also does this, but should be a compliment to your website.

  37. 137
    Shana Qualey says:

Your website is a 24 hour portfolio. I don’t see how anyone could make it in photography without one today.

  38. 138
    Christine says:

Having a website is an absolute must for a photography business. Potential clients want to be able to see your work and there isn’t a better way to meet that need. The hardest part was to find a decent priced service that all I had to do was upload my photos to their template and it was done. Now that I am up and running I struggle with populating the web with its presence and tracking my hits, etc.

  39. 139
    Pam Breese says:

My web presence is a huge part of my business right now. I’m making sure I blog consistently and in a way that lets the readers get to know me. If I could change anything it would be having an awesome gallery template for my images!

    Barbara says:

Ohmygoodness! I have and love Showit slideshow, but I’m so embarrassed because last week i made a neat slideshow for my trainer and he and his girlfriend said “Todd & Barbara have beautiful photos but their website needs some work”! (he probably made worse comments than that) He also said “It is so ’90s’!” And he is right because that is when Todd made it! . I am getting too embarrassed to even send people to it. I really need a new website, but we can’t afford to hire someone right now.
    Help!!!

  41. 141
    Arielle Haze says:

My website and blog ARE my business. I do not own a studio, as I shoot ONLY weddings and on-location engagement / bridal shoots. Therefore, my blog and site are my front doors and first-impressions.

It is vital that these sites be beautiful, easy to update and manage, and give a client the comfort of working with a professional.

My current site is very nice: bludomain, but I cannot add graphical links to PPA and WPPI on my About Me text section. I also cannot put images of my partners up in the hair, make-up, and wedding planning sections (as they are text). I feel limited! I would love to try out a showit site! I bet I would love it!!!! They look amazing from the outside looking in!

  42. 142
    Kate says:

I have had a website for a few years and I have no control over it. I have a web designer and she manages it. It is really pricey and ultimately I want to be able to control my own site. I have been hoping to do this for a while. I graduate from college in 5 weeks and plan to work on my photo business when I get out. The number 1 priority is getting a new website up and running. Winning this contest would be a great start after graduation.

    LisaB says:

My website and blog is everything to my photography business, without it where would be people go to see what I do, who I am and how I do what I do. When I first got my website I had held off as long as I could for the release of Show it sites. I felt I made a good choice, till I found out, I had no control over font, image size, videos, design, keywords and more. I was pretty sad, after forking out 400 dollars on a template I had no control and no choice, show it sites came out a month later and I was so sad and could not justify moving at that time. I’d probably change a lot about my site, the font, the ability to add video, action and design. Thanks both of you for the contest!

It couldn’t be in a better moment. I’m currently working in a way to get a website to show my pictures BIG enough to appreciate them. Until now I’ve been working with a pixelpost based photoblog and a wordpress blog but I would like to join them in a real and a good looking blog that wil allow me to show bigger pictures and give a better experience when people is consulting it. I already bought ShowIt Web Pro in order to be prepared for when I’ll be able to have my new blog but I haven’t use it yet because I can’t add it to a wordpress.com blog.
I’m looking forward to have one day something like a showit sites… it’s pretty amazingly awesome

Now I’m starting back to work I can link it to a beautiful new website with my portfolio and a matching blog with smart branding and my best images and ta da! I have a profile! Blogs and websites are amazing, and I love that these days you can really put your stamp on them, and get yourself, your images, your style and your thoughts out there to find the like minded customer…

I had a website where people could order pictures but the branding was limited. I decided to re-group, get better at taking pictures, and then go back to using a website. A website is very important and blogs aren’t really anything without pictures.

    Mindy W says:

A web site and blog is extremely important to us as photographers. For most photographers, these are the only places we showcase our work. With that said, we need to have blogs and web sites that flaunt our personal style! Like many photographers, I do not have full control over my web presence simply because I am bound by my cute, yet ever so limiting templates! If I had a choice, I would make my website and blog completely customizable to reflect my unique style and branding.

  50. 150

Most of my business comes from my website/blog, however, my blog needs MAJOR updating so winning this would be soooo awesome! Great slideshows. What better way to show off your work than slideshows. I think people pay more attention to websites when they can sit back and relax and just watch the show. Your product makes that easily capable!! Can’t wait to see more!

Well as I am new into the business, I do not yet have a website yet. I realize that a great web presence is so important to getting & keeping your business in front of the client that I have been looking into this very heavily. It is great this contest has come along because I love the Showit sites that I have seen and could definitely use some help getting pointed in the right direction. I am not really web savy so whomever I end up using has to been very user friendly! I would LOVE to win this contest. It would be a great help in getting me to get my dream of having a photography business officially off the ground.

  54. 154

My website & blog are the heartbeat of my business! They are the main avenue for any interested client to get a sneak peek into who I am and what I do and it allows them to dream up what their own session would look like. With branding yourself being so key these days, I’d love to have a custom website that showcases more of who I am and my personal style! It would be amazing to incorporate video, have slide shows with personalized music, unique galleries with different backgrounds… I’ve been drooling over the new showit sites and it would be SO exciting to win one!!! Pick me! Pick me! ;)

    Renee L says:

A website & blog would make a world of difference! I currently do not have a fully functioning website or blog. I would love to win a ShowIt Site, that would make a HUGE difference in my life & business!!!

While I am very new to this business, I am learning that a great website and up to date blog are crucial, as they really let prospective client get to know about your style, and about you. I definitely would love to have a more customized web presence.

    Tina Harden says:

I’m quickly learning the value of a website and a blog in my surfing. I have seen so many and am learning so much from them and for me, a website would help me branch out my word of mouth business and show off my photos. I think it would give me a boost in confidence and sense of pride to me my name and work out there on the world wide web.

  61. 161

For me, the majority of my clients come to me via word of mouth and the first thing they seem to do once they are refered, is hit up my blog. I have no stuio, so its a great place for potential clients to get a look at my work and see if my style meets their needs. I only have a blog as of now, so adding a web page I think would really solidify me as a professional- hopefully make me look a little more professional. I met David J on his Show It tour and I was blown away by not only his product but more so by him as a person :) Ive just been scared for some reason to dive right in and create a web site. This may give me a push in the right direction. But you can bet once I get my butt in gear, the only site I will create will be a Show It site. Thanks David for this giveaway!

    Tyra says:

I really need to win this! I think web presence is 90% of the first impression these days, as internet is so much of everyday life. Mine could use a little “bling” and I just can’t afford it at the moment!

    Candice K says:

Because I live in a destination area, where families come to vacation and have portraits made and where brides come to have the wedding of their dreams… My website is absolutely vital. Without it, I would not exist to a bride 1000 miles away, planning her wedding from her office desk. I am in the process of attempting to update my blogsite, but the gallery portion of the site is in dire distress and is difficult in my opinion to update. A new site, positioned as the gallery to my blog site could definitely make my life easier.

    Shannon says:

A website and blog are vital to any business now. This is even more so in a field like photography, where clients choose us based on our style and images. You have to put your best foot forward on the web to generate business and excitement in your “product.” As they say a first impression is everything. I would LOVE either of these prizes! What a great opportunity!

I would love to have a more professional blog, that at least allows people to open photos in the gallery without having to wait half an hour! THAT would be heaven. Where I live hardly any photographers have awesome sites, so having one would be an fantastic! A website is a must these days. Thanks for everything you do for us all Jodie x

By far, my web presence IS my business. Since almost all my referrals are by word of mouth, I am constantly looking for new ways to wow my clients via my blog. The blog is my #1 way to show everyone how i stay fresh and new, and in demand. I have a circle of moms that are very competitive and having their children on my blog has become a status thing. Which is a really cool feeling, but puts more pressure into having the coolest toys to play with , like slideshows!

I’m still working on mine and feel incomplete without a blog/website. That’s why it’s top on my priority list to get done by the end of the month!! :)

Very important to have web presence. It is a quick, easy, and inexpensive means of advertising. My web presence leaves a lot to be desired. My website is not up yet but I at least have the blog. Thanks for your wonderful blog!

I’m just starting out but realizing how important it is to make a good impression from the beginning. I’m hoping to start a blog/sit/logo/branding overhaul soon!

I’ve got a free blog that’s filling the gap for now… but I’d LOVE to have a website and blog that reflected my personality and business a little more!

  71. 171

I haven’t officially started in the photography business, and so I don’t have a website yet. But when I do, I will definently consider ShowIt as I’ve heard a lot of things about it. Right now I just have a blogger blog, and that’s enough for me, as again, I’m just starting to think about all this photography stuff. :) If I could change anything, I would have my own website. :)

    Lori Kelso says:

My website, which is fairly customizable, is my greatest contact tool. However, my blog is another subject altogether. I get so frustrated that I don’t know HTML well enough to customize it myself. What’s really frustrating, is that there is no person to talk to one-on-one. I made the mistake of using my company name for the blog until I could afford to create the website and when I wanted to change it, there was no way to do it without losing all the traffic I’ve built up on it over the years.

    Nathalie says:

My photoblog is in the process of being designed and I know it will play a massive part in my business – I don’t want to work on any other element of my branfing – packaging, stationary, portfolio, business cards etc – until the site is done. I’ve been itching to blog on it, to pick the pictures that best show my style, and to finally, properly connect with all the other fab blogs out there.

    Jackie Beale says:

I currently don’t have a website yet. I am just starting out and could really use this :) I do have a blog that I update frequently and I think this is important because it shows your clients your true personality and showcases more of your work. It’s important for a photographer to connect with their clients and I think a blog can help you do just that.

  75. 175

My website is my storefront and is incredibly important. It shows clients whether or not I’m a serious photographer. If they’re going to invest hundreds in family portraits, or thousands in a wedding photographer, they want somebody with polish. It doesnt’ matter if your photography is awesome if the presenation is hokie. I plan to redesign my website this Spring.

I am just starting out in the photography biz, and my blog is the best way to show clients, potential clients, friends, and family my work. If my work is good, then that is my best advertising! Word of mouth!

    Carli says:

I feel like a good looking website that is easy to use is SO important, I had a crappy website before and I was almost embarrassed to give out the url to people because I was worried they would think my work wasn’t very good based on what my website looked like. So I’ve actually decided not to have one at all until I have the money to get a website going that looks good.

  78. 178

My website is my first step in my marketing; my future clients don’t know me personally so I am trying to build something unique and beautiful and simple that can show them who I am and what my style is like. I have a beautiful website layout that I am very proud of, but I would love the chance to have a slideshow program that is just as clean and professional.

    Vanessa S. says:

    1. I think your website/blog is the first impression peple get about your style and work. It’s the electronic equivalent of your “interview best”.

    2. I definitely don’t feel I have complete control of my web presence because at this time I’m still using FB/Twitter to show only a few of my images (and there’s so much more to me!). I’m still in the research stages of getting a website and starting my blog.

    3. I would actually *get* a website/blog – LOL!! Seriously, there’s such a huge amount of information to ingest before putting together a quality, effective website/blog combo, so any help from a product like ShowIt would be a Godsend…

    Catie R says:

My blog has been my little sliver of the internet for me to showcase my work and get my name out there. It has been the main thing that I have done to get things moving for my business. It’s been paramount in connecting with others while I build my website. I’m so stoked about DJ’s Showit Sites as I’m building my own. I can’t wait to get it published. It’s so easy to use whether you design it yourself or have someone do it.

  81. 181

First impressions are so important in our profession. And not just with our splash page and site. Our galleries and our proofing galleries have to meet high standards, too. Every time someone clicks a link they have an impression, so we need to take advantage of that and not only have beautiful pictures, but and easy to navigate and intuitive site/blog. It’s our storefront, so it’s got to be top notch!

I like the flexibility I have with my site, but I’m not at all happy with my proofing galleries. They seem clunky and I’m afraid my clients aren’t thrilled with them either. More customization would be fabulous, too. I want to “wow” my clients and my blu proofing isn’t doing that.

  82. 182

I think that in today’s world, if you have a business, you MUST have a website. Not only that, it needs to be something that you can easily update and do so often – much like your blog. I’m new in business and I’m still having a difficult time getting my website to do what I want it to do. ShowIt looks fantastic!!!

Right now, my website is just a tool todisplay my work. I want to make it more of a sales tool as well. I am having trouble getting google to find me. I have submitted my site to google for indexing for some time now and not heard anything. In this year, it is my goal to get my website to the point that I can even get some prospective customers to find me.

I currently only have a blog but would love to “pimp” it out. I think the blog is SO important. Its a quick way for people to forward work onto others and for people to see what your up to and how versatile your shoots can be.

    Carol says:

Well can’t say anything new that wasn’t said by 175 OTHER people but I would love my website to match my “more me” blog!!! I don’t want to be another “Audrey”!! I want to be “Carol”!!!!

    April Alcorn says:

Right now all I have up is my blog…. To me my online presence is incredibly important. This is the first place my potential clients get to meet “me”. For me my photography is an expression of myself, it’s what I see, it’s my form of Art. It’s so very important that my style matches what my potential client is looking for. Because I want people to come to ME because of the images and style that I create, not for what they think I should create. Therefore my blog or website gives them the important opportunity to view my work and style before they commit to a session! Also this is a great tool to use for giving you clients sneak peeks of their finished session and helps to build excitement!!! Updating your blog and website often keeps things fresh and keeps both old and new clients coming back often!

A website is where it happens! My blog is what has taken me to where I am today, without a doubt! But I do not have a website and REALLY want to get a showit site! If so, I feel I would be able to present who and what I am to my clients. If I would change anything abut my blog it would simply be to better present/capture who I am as a photographer.
I love all you offer here! Thank-you!!!!

    Dani says:

I think a website is crucial to my photography business. I think these days a strong web presence is vital to the success of any business, and it only hinders you if you don’t. I feel like my web presence is fine for now, I’m not unhappy with it; however, I’m very aware that I do have a site that many other photographers share, and that my ability to truly control my web presence is limited within the confines of my template. I would like to someday have a site whose design would be unique from all other or most other photographers.

    Cristen says:

My website and blog are very important to me and my business. This is the only storefront that I have, so it HAS to represent me and my business. I feel like I have some control over my website presence now. I would love more though!! :) Sometimes it takes so much time to figure it all out…and that is just time that I don’t have! If I could change anything about my website, it would be the colors. Sadly, I don’t know the “special codes” to do that. Black doesn’t represent me….oh well, I will live with the site I have now…unless I win a great new one!!! :)

    Conni says:

Your website or blog crazy important….it is where potential clients can get a ‘feel’ for your style. I love to go thru picture after picture, at my leisure, to get a feel for the photgrapher. I hope others like to do that also. It is less invasive, not sitting across from someone tapping their foot on the floor if oyu know what I mean. As for control, it s hard sometimes to get what you really want if you are not a web guru…so any sites that offer up user friendly options and tech help are fab!! Your site rocks!! Thanks for the chance to win!

As a portrait photographer, I would L-O-V-E one of those slideshows to add to my blog! Beautiful way to display work for the clients!

My husband and I recently finished our first website. We loved what it could do for us and how it looked… then I learned more and more about branding and realized that our new site really didn’t fit with our branding. The more I looked at Showit Sites and their blogs the more I feel in love with the idea of completely redesigning our site so that it fit with our brand. Showit sites truly seems to be the only photographers websites that allow you complete flexibility and allow your true identity to show forth. We would love to be able to make the perfect site for our brand…

  94. 194

My blog has been great to get my photography out there and a place for my clients to go to to see my work on the pictures I did for them, and just my work in General.

Since I’m starting out in the “business”, it did just USE to be a hobby, I KNOW that I need to get an actual WEBSITE…but right now the blog works and I get just enough clients to keep me happy.

    Amanda says:

I’m just about to start targeting graduates with a new brand, in a country where Senior Photos don’t really even exist. Web presence, I believe, is going to be everything for me because that’s the world that the new generation lives in. They use phones for texting and surfing, not talking. To the up-an-coming group of young adults, if it’s not on the net, it doesn’t exist. And if it is on the net, it better be telling the whole story right there. I don’t feel like I have great control of my web presence right now because I’m not tech-savvy enough to do anything truly unique, which means I can’t make it truly me. I want to come out of the gates running with my web presence for this effort. For my current site and blog, though, it is simply not me. I would love to have the ability to make it feel like it fits with who I am and gives people a feel for what I’m all about.

i just recently combined my website and blog together as I was having a hard time keeping my website up to date. Since I’ve made a combo blog/website, cleaned up the design, and made it easier to update, I’ve had a lot more inquiries and hits on my blog. I feel more confident about sending people my way now ;o) Changes? It would be nice to have a slideshow program to easily drop in my blog and also to use for my galleries. And to be able to drag and drop images (like a bio pic of me) right where I want it to be (like I could with my old iweb ;o)

  98. 198

I LOVE Show It Sites! I’ve been working on mine for a month, and I can’t wait to launch it. I’ve been telling all my photog friends about it too. As a photographer/graphic designer this is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for!

    Allison says:

I think my website and blog are very important to my business. For most people, it is the first time they see my work and right now my website is very generic. I think this might be hurting my business and I definately think I need to be able to add slideshows to my blog. This is the way I present client’s proofs to them and I think I would get many more hits on my website if clients show their friends and family their slideshows online. I want people to say “wow” when they visit my website!

  100. 200

Honestly with the way the world is these days with the fast pace lifestyle a potential client WILL rely on what they see. They don’t want to research. It’s my job as a photographer (and marketer) to show them something AMAZING and something DIFFERENT. I have seen that in the show it sites. My website template is too small. The images are not big enough and I don’t have the ability to put my own personality into it. I would like to have a blog that was easy to update. My website is one of the few and most important glances a client will see of my work to decide whether or not schedule me. It needs to PUNCH! That’s what I want!
