How to enter?
Just leave a comment here and tell me the following three things.  You must answer all 3 to qualify.
  1. Tell us the silliest thing you ever used as a camera bag (if nothing out of the ordinary – then write “I am boring – I just use a plain ole camera bag.”)
  2. What is your dream lens? If you already own everything you ever wanted and completed your wish list, then tell us what lens you would make if you were a camera manufacturer.
  3. Which fabric pattern best describes your personality? Some examples are damask, polka dot, floral, checkered, plaid, swirls, stripes, circles, toile, geometric, etc.
Here are my 3 answers in case anyone wants to know:
  1. Beach Bag
  2. Dream lens is tough as I just bought the last few items for my wish list the other day.  My dream lens was 70-200 f/2.8 – then I got it – rarely used it and sold it recently.  Then it was the 85L – which I bought and LOVE.  And then it was the 50L, which arrived yesterday.  I am sure it will only be a matter of time before I have a new dream lens.  As for one not made yet, I would love a wide angle 17mm f 1.2 – that would be fun!  Or a any of my other L prime lenses with image stabilization.
  3. Polka Dots – hands down, I am a polka dot person – love them – they make me happy!

Good luck everyone – I am excited to see everyone’s answers.  The lucky winner will be picked on Sunday April 12th.

    1. old black costco camera bag sold with tripod circa 1990. (i know, I should get it just for that right? The sad part? Still using it.)

    2. 50mm 1.8

    3. hmmm, vintage (think Anthropologie)

  2. 302
    Laraine Davis says:

    1. A saddle bag. Took my camera on a week long trail ride in Wyoming.
    2. Dream lens: 70-200 2.8
    3. Definitely a polk-a-dot girl.

  3. 303
    Sarah McGee says:

    1. I turn every lesport sac I own (and I own *several*) into a camera bag with a ThinkTank chimpcage. 2. I want the Nikon 45mm PC-E. 3. I’m a madras plaid kinda girl.

  4. 304
    Leslie says:

    1. I have used my diaper bag as a camera bag before–I didn’t want to carry both!
    2. I would love to have a 70-200 2.8
    3. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE polka dots!

  5. 305

My silliest camera bag would have to be a huge duffle bag i got at the home goods store, it sort of looks like a vera bradley bag, but it’s not, and it doesn’t have any dividers just one big bag. I really would prefer one with separate compartments for each lens etc.

My dream lens would be an 85mm 1.4 lens, I recently borrowed it and it was superb, but at over $1000 a bit over my price range for now. And one that is not made yet? not sure as I am just getting started.

The pattern that fits my personality best would be toile, paisley or small english type florals in black and white or summer brights like yellow, turquoise, lime green, pink etc. I like to think that even down to the camera bag I can keep my personality showing and come off professionally, and look stylish.

Tracy Joy bags certainly would keep me stylish and looking professional

  6. 306

    1. My pockets. I looked like an elephant packing…
    2. 50mm 1.8L
    3. No question – a polka dot girl…

    Kansas A says:

Before I got my DSLR I had a Canon SD900, a very small camera. I had no case for it and did not want to get it scratched so I used one of my sons very tiny old socks from when he was a baby (stains and all). My brother still teases me about my “camera case.”

Oh gosh there are so many to choose from! I have four now but I’d really like a prime lens because I don’t own a one :) I don’t care what it is I’d just like to see if it makes a difference in my shots so anyone would do!

I’m not sure if I would call this a fabric “pattern” but I like anything with a dark bold colour in the background and bright folk art sun/moon/stars on it.

    Missy says:

    1. I have used (and still use…that’s why I need this!) a video camera bag. It doesn’t have a whole lot of depth and only room for one additional lens.
    2. I would LOVE to have the 50mm 1.8 lens! Everything looks so creamy!
    3. My favorite pattern is damask.

  9. 309

    1. A Vera Bradley bag that it’s original purpose was for a diaper bag (even though it wasn’t a diaperbag bag).

    2. Any L lens will do.

    3. I’m either dotty or stripey. Pinks and greens or turquoise and yellows.

  11. 311
    Kim S says:

oh, I’m drooling at the thought of winning…

    1. my purse which my camera doesn’t come close to fitting in!
    2. I shoot and like shooting with Nikon, but would they please come out with a 85mm 1.2L equivalent (as if I’d be able to afford it). But that would be my dream lens.
    3. Swirls or geometric…i love the pattern in the sample photos!

  12. 312

  13. 313

    2. My dream lens would be a 50 mm 1.4. I currently have a 1.8 and can hopefully upgrade by this summer.

    3. The fabric pattern that best describes me would be toile, pink to be specific. It’s romantic, carefreem and refreshing. It’s also the theme that I used in my daughter’s nursery.

  14. 314

    Emma says:

    1. The silliest thing I ever used as a camera bag was my husband..No joke..we were in New York and I made my husband carry around the camera around his neck tucked into his coat for pretty much the whole day while we walked around china town and time square…
    2.My dream lens right now would be a 24-70mm 2.8 Canon lens..Yummy :)
3.Swirls are just me! They’re so cute and funky..I just love’em..

  16. 316
    Sarai says:

    Beautiful bags!

    1) I’ve rigged up a sling-camera bag by placing my camera in the front pocket of my hoodie, wrapping the hood around it, and tying the sleeves together to make a strap. I’ve also rigged together a similar bag from a sarong… both made me way too nervous that my camera would slip whenever I’d move or walk.

    2) Nikon 85mm 1.5

    3) Swirls are absolutely my favorite pattern–they’re so dreamy and playful!

  17. 317
    Jenn says:

    1. Not at all original, but my diaper bag has doubled as my camera bag quite often.
    2. My dream lens would be the 85L or any L glass for that matter!
    3. I think I am a damask pattern but in bright colors. A little on the conservative side but also fun!

  18. 318
    Melissa says:

    1. Honestly- I regularly filch my kids backpacks because I underestimate the amount of room I’ll need to carry what I want.

    2. I am thinking I would love the 70-200 F/2.8. I’m not smart enough that I know for sure what I would use yet- still kind of a beginner.

    3. Great big retro florals always get me. Also any kind of circle and/ or dot pattern. (I’m a quilter, I could go on and on….)

  19. 319
    Cyndi says:

    Wow, that is gorgeous!!

    1. Like many others, I used a diaper bag at one time.
    2. I would LOVE the 50mm 1.2
    3. Love damask & polka dot. Damask because they are pretty, polka dot because they make me happy :)

  20. 320
    ~~jennyL~~ says:

    1 – Towel.

    2 – Desperately want the 85mm 1.4.

3 – Ooh, tough one. Depends on the day. I like floral with some polka dots mixed in. I also like stripes.

  23. 323
    Kimberly says:

    1) I have used a variety of creative carrying solutions for my cameras but I’d have to say the silliest is my son’s Thomas the Train lunch bag. Yeah, it’s the one that’s shaped just like a train. It’s quite professional.

    2) I’m going to have to go with the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L.

    3) Circles for me. It goes with my round, pregnant belly and the fact that pregnancy brain has left me running in constant circles.

  24. 324

    1. Well…I guess I am the boring one….I have only used a Canon Camera bag…but it’s all I have and right now I only have one lens…so it works for now. :)

    2. My dream lens is the Canon 50 mm f/1.2L. I have seen some pictures using this lens…very nice.

    3. I will have to go with polka dots and damask…depends on my mood for the day.

I used a purse that my friend made….for her 4 year old daughter! Long story, happy shot, insane camera bag! (no closure on the bag…I almost lost everything!)

I have a bunch of real wish list lenses….but my dream lens? a 20-80 1.2 with image stabilization.

I love polka dots but I like the combination of swirls and dots and flowers….fun without committing to anything!tc.

  27. 327
    Michelle H says:

    1. Shopping bags. :)
    2. I can’t decide between the 50 1/2 or the 85 1/2. Probably the 85 since I have the 50 1/4 and I’d like to see what its like to shoot with the 85.
    3. Damask & floral.

    Your contests ROCK. Thanks!

  28. 328
    Chi-Girl says:

    1. I’m on vacation for spring break right now and am embarrassed to admit I’m using a ziplock baggie inside an oversized purse — I just couldn’t handle taking my old camera bag (ugly), a purse, and a carryon.

    2. Dream lens: either the superfast 50 mm that everyone craves or the wide angle you mentioned…..wide angle 17mm f 1.2. A girl can dream!

    3. Hmm..that’s tough as I like a variety of prints depending on color. Prob. floral-swirls or damask (if not just b/w damask)….love green so has to have green in it.

    Happy Easter and Pesach everyone!

  29. 329
    Nicole says:

    2. i am saving for the nikon 24-70 f2.8…it is sitting in a shopping cart waiting for me to click “submit.”
    3. i am a plaid girl.

  32. 332
    Shannon says:

    1. I’m glad I’m not alone….I’ve used a diaper bag, of course!

    Chetan says:

    1) We were in a tiger reserve and missed taking the camera bag as the camera was hanging on my neck. After few hours of shooting tigers (digitally ofcourse !!) wanted to put my camera back in the bag, but NO BAG :-( Finally ended up storing my camera in a shower cap (the one used in hotels )
    2) I love shooting animals and birds, my dream lens is a long telephoto lens which can shoot these wildlife in their natural habitat without disturbing them.
    3) Bright colored fabric with floral design. I am from India and some of our rural areas use such fabrics and they look to ‘distinctive’

  35. 335
    Kitty says:

    1. Whatever purse I have at the time. If its is big enough and I can take most stuff out, I will just use that.
    2. I LOVE my 24L. I have a 50 1.4 and I like it, but I just love wide angles. I want a fish-eye lens and the 85L and super wide angle lens. Also the 50 macro lens. If they make it, I’m sure I’ll use it. One lens to be the dream lens? at *this moment* I would say the 85L.
    3. I don’t know what fits my personality but I LOVE baroque style patterns, like the wallpaper. And paisley is pretty neat, too. I think swirly things, I’m kind of all over the place.

  36. 336
    Jennifer says:

Tell us the silliest thing you ever used as a camera bag (if nothing out of the ordinary – then write “I am boring – I just use a plain ole camera bag.”) – a sweatshirt. :sigh:

What is your dream lens? If you already own everything you ever wanted and completed your wish list, then tell us what lens you would make if you were a camera manufacturer. – I would love a macro lens. :)

Which fabric pattern best describes your personality? Some examples are damask, polka dot, floral, checkered, plaid, swirls, stripes, circles, toile, geometric, etc. – Y’know, I googled fabric patterns and right away I saw one that is me…the funky monkey prints. Love that… :)

  37. 337
    Rose says:

Ok, number 1. I actually just use a plain old camera bag, I am totally boring, or sometimes I have even just grabbed my Nikon and carried it without a case (yikes!)
number 2. I don’t have a dream lens as I don’t know a whole lot about my camera yet, although I have a macro lens that I love, and I also have a 50mm 1.4 lens that I love using in the house as the lighting sucks (my sunshine yellow walls don’t help) and I have been eyeing up an 85mm 1.8. As for dream lens, I’ll have to check into it! I know I would also like a lens with a larger zoom than what I have now.
number 3. I actually love the carnival bloom fabric by michael miller that is pictured on the bag in this post! I have a lap blanket made of the same fabric in flannel, and I purchased some extra yardage in cotton for some other projects. I love it, the colors of it are totally me.

Thanks for the opportunity to win the bag, love your actions and all the tips you have for us!

  38. 338
    Mandi says:

1.I used my messenger bag (which was also my “purse” since I’m not a typical purse girl) for the longest time. 2.Well, it wasn’t on my list before, but a friend just got the 70-200 F/2.8 and now I’m completely lens jealous!!!! It’s definitely on my list now ;-) 3.My style is anything funky!! I love TJ’s fleur tattoo, it’s hip, stylish, and unique!!

What an awesome prize! Thank you Tracy and Jodi!

    1. Like most moms I tend to leave the house with way too much stuff, so in an effort to consolidate when I’m not using my normal old camera bag I will wrap up the camera and throw it in the diaper bag…not with the good lens though :-) .

It’s affordable! A dream lens? Maybe a 40mm 1.2? I loved using the 50mm, but when shooting children indoors on a rainy day, im always needing to back up a little bit, and there’s a wall! ;0)

    1. a lunchbox. 2. i’m still wanting the 24-70 2.8. and the 14-24 2.8. but I think someone should make a 12-200 1.2 that is the size of a 50mm prime. *that’s* my dream lens. I mean, how hard could it be? :P 3. stripes.

  64. 364

    1. my scarf… scary!
    2. Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens. I dream of the day I own this lens!
    3. I’m not sure, but I’m going with paisley!

  65. 365
    apryl says:

    1. i would be a boring one, just use it for the camera
    2. my first choice is a 24-70 2.8, then a 70-200 2.8, then a fisheye
    3. i’m pretty simple & practical so plain is logical, but i am a sucker for paisley!

    thanks for the opportunity jodi!

    1. I’m boring.
    2. Used to be 2.8 70-200, but then I rented it and felt awkward with it. I’m not giving up but I am planning on renting a macro and 85 mm next.
    3. Simple and repetitive pattern – you could say I’m predictable.

    Wow. What a fantastic giveaway.

    1. I regularly use a large purse as a camera bag. I also have a “real” camera bag, but it’s a little bulky for just walking around.
    2. Can I choose two? I really want a 70-200 2.8 and an 85.
    3. Stripes. Absolutely. Or damask. No, stripes.

  71. 371
    Christina says:

    What a fun contest!

    1. I’m always carrying my camera in my purse or a totebag or a diaper bag. I almost never carry an actual camera bag anymore.
    2. My dream lens is forever the canon 24-70L. There are a few others I really want but this one is tops on my list.
    3. For fabrics I lean towards swirls, circles, and smallish flower prints. I’ve recently fallen in love with damask, too.

    3. I am definitely a damask kind of girl.

    Thanks!!

  74. 374

    1. I am usually boring and just use my Canon camera bag, but every now and then I’ll use my big “I can carry my life in my purse” purse. 2. My dream lens would be the 70-200 f/2.8. WANT.IT.SO.BAD. 3. Polka dots for sure…or swirls or circles. Anything in that general shape I suppose, but polka is my favorite.

  75. 375
    Susan says:

    1-probably the diaper bag
2-the holy grail of lenses for me is the Canon 24-70L, I go and visit mine at the local camera store. They let me hold it and cuddle it, and then we put it back in the case for another day
3-it’s a toss up between polka dots and plaid.

  76. 376
    Emily says:

    1. I have thrown it in my purse and wrapped it in a towel. But then nothing else fit in my purse!

    Jenny says:

    1) The weirdest thing I’ve used is a purse. Quite functional, actually. 2) Dream lens would be a 12-24 wide angle with low apperature. 3) The pattern that best describes me would be a combo of polka dots, floral, swirls, and circles all rolled into one, with lots of bright colors.

1)Silliest bag for a camera- you pick- my preschoolers backpack, my nursing bag (I mean registered nurse, not breastfeeding lol), my husbands hockeybag..eww…,free canvas bag from the grocery story, cheap bag that came with the camera, my kids neck, my purse, laundry bag…..I think I should see about getting a proper one!

2)Dream lens would be any kind of macro- I would love to see the world from a tiny little bugs perspective. I see enough (from close and far) of their world. It would be a sweet getaway to see the little creatures/flowers etc and spend a little moment in their world.

3)Oh my gosh–are you kidding? Any style that doesn’t have medical prints or kids prints on it would be my style! I am so not a picky person.

  84. 384

    1. I actually usually have my camera in a lunch bag when I need to take it somewhere! I know it is silly, but the insulation gives it a little padding. (so I really need a real bag I guess!) 2. I just got a Nikkor 70-300 mm lens which I love and am still learning, the part I am having the most trouble with is that it does not have any automatic focus so some of my pictures are turing out blurry! 3. I think I would say paisley fits me. I like that it is girly, but not overly girly if that makes sense!

  85. 385

    2. Nikon 50mm f1.4 af-s. I would love to be able to shoot wide open. I love bokeh.

    3. Any pattern in the color pink. At one of my first jobs in Corporate America, I was the only female in my department for a couple of years, so I ordered pink file folders, post it, and pens. Ever since it has been my color.

  91. 391

  92. 392
    Susan P says:

    1. my purse…more like bag…but the funny part is i think it was intended to be used as a diaper bag because of one of the attachments that came inside it. But when I bought it as a college student, it was the perfect size to hold my folio in while I went out on job interviews.

    2. I would dream up a lense that could go back and forth from being a crystal clear wide angle lense, to a buttery smooth 50 mm 1.2 lense, to a funky tilt-shift lense all in one…a girl can dream right? Or is there already a super expensive lense like that??

    2. I would love any lens right now as I am using a bridge camera (Fuji Finepix) but I have a Nikon DSLR on my list for later this year. My husband recently invested in a Nikon for himself and we figured if I got the same brand camera we could share lenses.
