Expand Your Canvas in Photoshop – A MUST SEE Video Tutorial!

Have you ever wanted to crop your photo different dimensions only to find out you will lose the subject’s head going from a 4×6 to 8×10 aspect ratio? Have you ever wished that you had a vertical format or square format instead of horizontal (or visa versa)? Have you ever wished you could just add some space where there is none left on your image?

If so, this video on “Expanding your canvas in Photoshop” is for you. I would love to you know your thoughts or questions – so add them to the comment section. If you enjoyed this video, make sure to let others know of it and also to use the social bookmarking tools to spead the word.

Thanks so much Jodi for posting this video tutorial! I have done a little canvas stretching using the Marquis tool and then transforming, but I never knew you could add canvas using the Crop tool.

Thanks so much! Is there any trick to stretch the canvas (or resize) to get the correct print size (without cropping off a head or arm) with a photo that doesn’t have a solid background? I am new at printing and have run into this problem with converting 8 by 10s to 5 by 7s, etc.

that was awesome. would definitely like to see more of that. my question now would be, what if the background is not solid like those examples… would you use the clone tool?

[...] Step 8: Wanted a different crop with more room to the right.  So I stretched the canvas as explained in this video. [...]
