WIN AN SLR LENS: Brand New Tamron Lens – 18-270mm or 28-300mm
I am very excited to have my 1st BIG lens give away on the blog. Tamron USA, Inc. is sponsoring the MCP contest for a brand new lens. The WINNER chooses from the 18-270mm (for a crop sensor Nikon or Canon) or the 28-300mm (for a full frame Nikon or Canon).
This would be an amazing lens to have for travel when changing prime lenses is inconvenient. I can just picture this lens on a trip to Disney World.
To enter, you will need to do the following:
- Post to your blog, twitter and/or facebook about this contest (let people know how to enter and provide a link)
- Come back here and leave a comment writing where you posted (with link so that it can be verified if your post is picked from the random drawing)
- In your comment, please write why you want to win this lens, where you would want to most the lens, and for fun tell us how many lenses you currently own.
To qualify, you must:
- Have a US mailing address that the lens can ship to – this can be yours or a friend or relative but make sure you have one prior to entering (Tamron USA is only authorized to sell and distribute in the US)
- Have a Camera that works with Tamron Lenses. If you do not have a Nikon or Canon SLR, a similar range lens for Pentax or Sony will be substituted.

I wanna win this lens because other than the kit lens, I only have 1 other lens for my camera. We travel a lot and do a ton of family-related activities and there have been several times in the past few months where I have been just heartbroken because I don’t have the zoom I needed. My kids are growing older and bigger by the day and some of these memories I will never get back! I really need a zoom!
Jodi, thanks for this awesome giveaway! I would LOVE this lens because my current kit zoom (18-55mm) is icky and doesn’t have enough zoom! I would mostly use this lens at on-location sessions with children – they’re fast and sometimes hard to keep up with! I also have 2 primes, a 50mm and a 100mm macro. I currently shoot with a Canon Rebel XT but am upgrading to a 50D very soon.

I want to win this lens because at a shoot in June at Stone Mountain in Georgia, I was trying to catch “THE SHOT” while climbing on a rock to accomplish this – needless to say I slipped fell and broke my lens and took home lots of cuts and bruises! So, I need to replace my broken “main shooting lens” so I can stop emptying the bank account by renting them for every shoot!
I currently own a Nikon 50mm 1.8 and a 70-200mm!

I actually just rented the 28-300mm lens for a trip to Colorado last month and loved it’s versatility! It really is great for traveling! I plan on going on many more trips this year and would love to own one. However with my college budget I’ll have to resort to renting them for now.

I am getting ready to purchase a Canon 5D Mark II. None of my current lenses will work on a full frame sensor so I really need a new lens! As it happens, I was looking into buying something with such a wide zoom range, so this would be perfect!

I, like the others, have a bit of a tight budget, thus not allowing the purchase of a new lens.
I currently just have the basic 18-55 and 70-200. They are great little lenses, but would really love to have an all-in-one lens that gets the job done faster and easier. I think it would help business as well, and that’s ALWAYS a plus! And, too, it would give me something new to learn, a new level of creativity, and a lighter camera bag.
I have a canon 40D that came with a 28-135mm lens that I use alot for photographing the local saddle clubs and 4-H’ers. I also purchased the Tamron 28-75mm and Tamron 17-35mm lens that I love to use when doing portraits. I started photographing the local kids and family things from Weddings to newborns and such – you can see more of my photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/true-reflections – you will see there that I take LOTS of photos of the local kids.
I would LOVE to win a bigger lens to be able to get better and closer shots of these kids so that they will have the keepsakes to take with them as they grow and for the parents to have to remember the memories also. To me there is nothing better than seeing the smiles on peoples faces when you show them the memories that I have captured for them – as our kids grow way to fast anyways so I love to take the photos to have with us forever!

This is such an awesome contest! I currently own 3 lenses, but only 2 are in working order thanks to me being a clutz one day and now one only works in very good light conditions…as I dropped it.
Sigh….so I have been looking for a new lens!!! Currently I have the Canon 20D and am saving up to buy me a new 50D and this would be a great lens for being able take with without having to worry about changing lenses all the time and possibly missing that one important shot.

I just got a Nikon D60 and only have the stock lens. I’d use this new lens on our family trip to Disney over Thanksgiving. I love taking pictures of my kids (2 years old and 7 months old)!
I don’t usually enter giveaways but I’d love to have a lens like one of these! We travel by car a lot and go to touristy sightseeing type spots. Well, I would love to have this lens for several reasons:
First, my lovely wife and I just had our first child, a beautiful daughter named Sydney. She has lately been the prime subject of my shutter, and will be for years to come!
Second: I would use this lens everywhere – from the backyard to the beach, from the lake to family camping trips – this would be an excellent lens to cover most all of my shooting applications!
And most of all: It would be great sometimes to carry ONE lens for a day’s outing or trip, instead of having to pocket an extra or worry about swapping to another lens for that “gotta have” moment.
I shoot my beloved D40 and have 3 Nikon lenses -the 18-55mm GII kit, the 55-200VR, and a most recent 35mm f/1.8 prime.

Currently, I only have a Canon 85mm 1.8, though I did have a 50mm 1.8 but dropped it. Whoops.
I would probably use this lens everywhere, especially since my current lens is a fixed focal length. While I love that for portraiture, I’d love to have a little more functionality.

I just got my Nikon in December, and currently only have the kit lens that came with it. I would love a new lens! What timing. I was looking through my family/kids photos recently and a light went on over my head as I just realized that I have numerous amounts of posed photos with my family/kids but not very many candid shots at all! I’d love more candid shots since I’m also noticing they seem to be the ones of my kids I am cherishing the most. Problem is (and I know every photographer, mom with a camera and so on can relate to) when I get too close to the kiddos with a camera, I interrupt their play and my shots aren’t so candid anymore. How awesome it wold be to have a lens that lets me hang way back and get those candid shots…and how awesome it would be being fortunate to receive such a lens for free when my budget does not allow for one right now or anytime soon. I currently have a kit lens and a Canon 50mm 1.8
I have a canon rebel, I would use this lens to take tons of pics of my daughters baby that is due in Sept along with the tons of pictures I take of my step sons babys. Love those grandbabies. I also like to take pics of my step son when he is racing his race car and I have to run back in forth between the bleachers and the truck to change lens.

I am currently working on a project in the Shenandoah National Park about the large mammals that live there. I would use the long glass to better capture the animals while disturbing them less. I currently have a 18-135 and a 105 macro.

I have a Canon 40d, the 28-135 kit lens, and the 50MM 2.8. I desperately need more lenses especially since I have been receiving a lot of interest for wedding photography as well as newborns. I am a single mom on a fixed income trying to make a go of photography – these would help so much. Ultimately, I would use them for both kids and weddings, but my primary focus is kids.

I am working on street photography. The versatility of one of these lenses would offer me grater range in both zoom and creativity. I shoot in both Charlottesville, VA and Charleston, SC. My current lens is the kit 18-70 that came with my camera.
Currently, I have one lens that came with my Canon Rebel XT. My husband has been laid off a lot this year so buying something like a new lens isn’t in the budget, and that is why I would LOVE to win this gorgeous lens. Winning this lens would be the thing that tears me away from the 50mm prime. I’ve had it attached to my camera for over a year now and am starting to feel stifled by it. I’m also going overseas for christmas (travelling and visiting my new boyfriends family!) and have been trying to work out just what lens will be most suitable when i saw your competition and had all my concerns answered! This would be the perfect travel lens!!
If this is a double post, I apologize in advance! My computer froze up while the comment was posting. I would absolutely benefit from having a lens like this! I am a full-time special ed teacher who has started dabbling in photography and I hope to make it my job one day! I feel like I lose so much focus when I stop to switch from my Nikon 18-55 to my other lens (Tamron 70-300). I love both lenses, but they are very different and it always seems like it takes me a few moments to adjust when I switch. I have a Nikon D80. I only have two lenses (one is the kit, one is the 50 mm 1.8) and my business has really picked up lately. While I am getting more business, it’s not really enough to splurge on the lenses that I need/want. I am from small town South/North Dakota and I can’t charge as much as the big city photographers. I would use it for just about everything. I shoot whatever I can around here!
I retweeted (http://www.twitter.com/fiticism). I currently own one super wide angle lens which is really convenient, and gives me some really interesting images. I’d like to have something more versatile for shooting at a bit of a distance, and just in case I want a person to look normal. Winning the 28-300 would be incredible, if I had to choose, that is. I have a 50mm (1.8) prime lens and a 17-85 zoom lens. With a very active 3-yr-old and a new baby on the way, the larger zoom would really come in handy!

I posted this on my facebook. I would love the chance to win a new lens! Just got a new Canon 50D, and I have the lens it came with, which is fine, and I splurged on a 50mm 1.4 and I love that one! But a great telephoto would be fabulous!! Family is what I’m concerned with in my photography, it’s all about the family and the beauty of it. Thanks for this chance, and thanks for all you do!

I’ve been DROOLING over this lens for what seems like FOREVER…with my fiance laid off in May there is NOT EXTRA money for such things.

I have been looking to buy an all around good zoom lens. I exclusively use primes and need something for just “around the town” and this would be PERFECT. I would use it when I’m out with my daughter and on trips with my family so I don’t have to lug a bag full of primes when I’m not going to need crystal sharpness and f/1.8. I own a lensbaby, an 85mm 1.8, and a 50mm 1.8. I also have an 18-55 kit somewhere…haven’t used it in a while. Bring it out when I need something wide.
Well I sure could use a nice new lens that has AF. I have and old Tamron 28-50 f3.5 and my eyes, they just don’t focus as well as a camera. So… Yes… a nice new lens would ROCK.

My job went to Mexico in September and there is no extra money for toys with 3 kids in college!
I would love to have a new lens! Lately, every time I think I am getting a good photo, I end up cursing my crappy lens. That baby would totally go to my favorite place with me – Disneyworld.
Not sure if its too late to enter but i figured its worth a try…well its a huge worth to try.
I currently use a canon 40D – it came with a standard lense 17-85mm. I’m currently obsessed with my canon f1/2 50mm. Its lighter weight then the f1.2 85mm with the same amount of bokeh. on rare yet fun occasions i use a tamaron fisheye but thats my husband’s lens. Definitely would love to try out a new lens. Still honing in on my skills.

I would love this lens because I got a new one and after my first time using it, my husband was trying to be nice and get my back out of the car and didn’t realize it was unzipped. Therefore, my lens fell out and cracked. Including that one I have 5 lenses.

oohhhh, I want this lens so bad. I have been eyeing it for a while now. Nothing is better than free. I am a beginner photographer and its just tricky when you have that perfect shot but have to take time to switch the lens to get closer.
I would use it EVERYWHERE! I think it is the lens I will probably leave on my camera all the time.

What a fun contest! Right now I have the 50mm 1.8, Tamron 28 -75 2.8 and the 85mm 1.8. I’ve been a photographer for 5 years now and because of $ reasons, I just stick with what I have and haven’t been able to really invest in a any new lenses. It would be awesome to have a zoom lens with so much range (I LOVE that) for my photo sessions, snaps of my kids and anything else I wanted to take pictures of!

I would love to win a new lens. I recently purchased a Canon Rebel XT and have the lens kit as well as a telephoto 75-300 mm (the budget friendly-basic lens). I have just begun playing with all those can do and look forward to the challenges that a new lens would bring.
