What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future?
–I’ve just started reading here so I’m not sure what all you have already. I am more of a Lightroom user so would be interested in seeing stuff about things I can’t do in LR. Textures is a good one. I’ve played with them but just can’t seem to get the perfect combination of the right texture with the perfect photo.

What type of Photography topics would you like to see covered on the MCP Blog in the future?
–How to take better senior pictures. Mine are just boring.

What type of actions would you like to see from MCP in the future?
–Some kind of white balance action. Is that even possible? I love that Lightroom has the dropper I can click for perfect white balance. I wish there was an easy way to set this in PS.

My birthday is the 18th, so this would make a great birthday gift, a day late!!

1. I know the basics plus a little more in PS. But personally, I don’t know what everything “does” – learning what all the icons are and such, the general idea of what everything does would be a helpful tutorial. I tend to shy away from the tools that I have no idea what they do.
2. I always feel like I struggle with posing and interesting composition…my images are all tending to look the same. I would love to see coverage of this topic. Also how to incorporate environmental objects into your frame.
3. Actions – this is a tough one. I can’t think of anything that I don’t already have.. lol. Maybe selective sharpening – currently I use the sharpening layer only of your eye doctor action to selectively sharpen objects in my images. Maybe not the best one but only one I could think of! Also I love vintage.. I have one action that I am not too crazy about. Im sure there are a ton out there, but would love to see what you could do:) Or maybe you have and I haven’t seen it?!

I would love to see more tutorials about applying creative effects with actions. I am primarily a Capture NX2/Lightroom user, so I’d love to find creative things to do in Photoshop. I am an active Photoshop user, it’s just not used heavily in my workflow, except for cloning out stuff.

I’d love to see a tutorial on using the clone tool. I’d also love to see a discussion on studio lighting … soft boxes … and using a flash. For an idea on Actions I’d like to see: … you have so many fantastic ones already …. how about something trendy, even if it was a small set. Something soft but color popped in one action? LOL .. does that even make sense?

1. I agree with the above comment. In photoshop, I don’t know what all the buttons are, I hardly know how to use photoshop and I would love to learn more about how to do it on my own. I own most of your actions, but I feel like a dummy not being able to do anything myself.
2. I need some tips on lighting. How to use reflectors and what is the best time to take photos. Especially taking photos where the sun is behind the subject, I really need help on that.
3. I don’t think you could come up with any new actions! It seems like you’ve thought of everything. Maybe ones that help with the vibrance of the photo? Mine seem to always look a little dull. That could be my fault on how I take photos, though.

I’d like to learn how to determine sizes and saving procedures for various uses. Such as how to save things properly for the web vs. print. I would also like to know how to determine which actions to use.

Hmmm…I am still new to photography so any any tutorial would be great for me. I have mastered the basics of Photoshop and then some, but would love to be able to do more. I know I am not even scratching the surface of what i could really do with this software.
One thing I am most interested in is lighting. I would love some insight as to different lighting techniques to achieve different looks. Sometime my images tend to fall a little flat and I know with different positioning I could give them depth and interest.
And last, but not least I love all your actions so anything you come up withwould be awesome in my book.

1. As for tutorials, maybe some that show how to make our own actions or brushes. The ones you’ve created save time, but how about step by step instructions to make our own (if these tutorials are already on the site, I guess I didn’t look hard enough – sorry). Masks are another thing I would be interested in learning about. I’m clueless about them.

2. The processing topics are very helpful, but how about more info on the photos before you get to the processing – actually taking the pictures. Why that picture? What were you trying to capture? Sort of letting us see through your eyes.

3. Actions . . . hmmm. What haven’t you already covered. You’ve got some that make the colors pop, brighter, etc. How about one that leaves selective color in the image? For example, I have a senior photo and she’s wearing her jeans. I use the action and it takes out all the color except for blue. Just an idea.

1. Classes: I’ve taken your curves class, and the details class. I use everything I learn all the time. But there are lots of other “unknown” things on PS that I haven’t a clue about. 2.Tutorials: How to get children’s pictures – toddlers and up .

1. I love all your tutuorials, but for some reason I would LOVE someone to spell out the do’s and don’ts, the why’s and how’s of saving all my work. I need someone to start from the beginning, literally when you plug in your camera or your CF card and take me through exactly what I would do to archive, organize, process and save for all the scenarios I would run into as a professional photographer. I have Bridge, CS4 and I take pics in RAW, and I try to save in JPEG and in TIFF but also am confused by saving and resizing for the web and also how to do the workflow thing so I don’t have to individually save them all. ARGGG!! I just need to really hear all the details!
2. As for topics, I would love to learn all about curves a little better and becoming a little more self-sufficient in Photoshop without having to use actions most of the time, also simple lighting techniques for someone starting out, studio and outdoors.

Photography topics: While I realize that settings are a personal choice, I like to understand why the photographer made that particular choice. Why that ISO, why that shutter speed, why that aperture–what was the dominant choice.

I love all the tutorials you’ve done so far. I’m having a hard time coming up with ideas for ones you haven’t done yet, have you done one on selective color adjustment? Like just small parts of skin where something reflected, I use your skin action and masking but it can be difficult to get right. For photography topics, maybe large group posing and creative posing to make people appear slimmer. I love all of your actions that I have, maybe more storyboards?

Actions: Recipes…I love playing with actions, but finding the right balance when using mulitple actions can be tricky. I find I take away something from almost any recipe type post.

I’m not really sure, exactly! What I find is that I pick up more from the video tutorials. Sometimes it’s not really what you’re teaching, but where you pick your brush from, or how you have your workplace set up and the like. So, I’d say more video tutorials.

I know the basics, I want to learn more on Layer Mask, how to use different textures, Overlays, maybe even how to process a texture from shooting to saving to using. How to make a brush or make a new font. How to make a digital storyboard or page template and save as a psd. for using again later.

What type of actions would you like to see from MCP in the future? I would like to see some really fun artsy actions. I have people ask for that all the time and would love an action for some.

I leave the content to the expert. I often read your blog in Google Reader and have starred nearly every entry the past couple of weeks. Seems I learn something new from you every day. I especially appreciate the timesavers. Autoloader has come in quite handy. Thanks for everything!

I was at a workshop last year, and I was lucky enough to be studying with several other photographers from around the country. Two of them were from Russia, and they had these amazing photos with a technique that I’d never seen. They were almost completely bleached out, except for one bright, surreal color that tied the photo together. This one splash of color was the only thing not bleached out in the images. I’ve tried to duplicate the process, and I think that it involves converting them to LAB mode at some point, but I can’t quite get the correct effect. The photos themselves were full of emotion and movement, and the overall effect was fabulous. I’d love to see tutorials teaching this post-production technique. From what the teacher told us, there are several post-production techniques coming out of Russia within the next few years that will be revolutionary to us here in the states.

As far as topics to cover, I’m trying to get more and more into the senior portrait market, and anything from photographers who are experienced at these sessions is very appreciated. I love reading anything from posing to wardrobe suggestions, to post production. I would also appreciate tutorials on different grunge borders and brushes, and maybe a few on making new and original backgrounds for ads or blogs.

I would, of course, love any actions that can mimic the above mentioned technique. Any actions that I’ve seen that come close to it also blow out a lot of the image. Their images weren’t blown out – everything was properly exposed. They were just bleached out except for one really surreal color. I also really like actions that give a grungy, abused look. And if there’s any way to get actions that work in lightroom as well as photoshop, I think that would be a huge plus.

I would like to see workflow tutorials where you tell how you get from camera to finished product. Not details, just basic workflow like software you use, how you organize your photos, backups, how you edit, etc. I guess that would be basic photography too.

Every time you come out with new actions, I think, “How did she think of that?!”, so I couldn’t even imagine what you could come up with next. I would like to see some Lightroom presets from my favorite actions company thought. Hint!

More grungy type ones that really give a down and dirty city feeling. I often shoot in alleys and want to convey that dirtiness to the picture.

As far as tutorials you are doing an awesome job of providing a variety of them. Not one specific things comes to mind. You always have a tidbit of info to teach me. As far as topics I would love more info on photographing in natural light. Also, as far as actions go, I would like to see more on working with the textures to creat different looks.

I would love to see more information about using texture – it’s something I like the look of, but I don’t seem to be able to make it work the way I envision it. I always like to see articles about people’s takes on different custom fuctions – back button focusing, different metering modes, etc. In terms of actions, is it wrong to say I think you’ve got it pretty well covered? I love the current offerings!

Photography topics — Maybe more about lighting, inside and outside and about “planning” relatively casual shoots?

MCP actions — I have to say that I have a small budget, and your actions are high on my wish list, but I haven’t used them yet. And your classes are even higher on my list. So I don’t know about more actions. I just want the ones you have! The only thing I can think of is that I would love to see some sort of trial set — maybe one that left watermarks on my photo or self-destructed, LOL, so I could get a better idea of which ones I should buy first.

Already a facebook fan..love your blog tons (check it every day). As far as the three questions, don’t have any specific ideas or questions right now. Maybe white balance help..I have the white balance lens cap, but it doesn’t seem to work for me when I’m outside..colors are always wonky. I have your magic skin set of actions and use it with almost every picture I edit. I would love to see some actions with texture overlays in them.

Hi…. I love your actions! I would love to have tutorials on using shapes and using them with your own personal watermark. I would also like to see more on editing serveral photos at once. It takes me up to 5 hours to edit 25 photos. I would like to see more tutorials on lighting and the best times during the day to take the best pictures…(according to the seasons too). As far as photography topics…I really love when you have guest bloggers in specific specialties! I love the newborn tips. I would love to see more tips on keeping skin tones looking good but getting the color pops! Getting rich dark color, but keeping skin NORMAL!

As far as actions…I would like to see more story boards! Ones that are EASY.

I am new to selling my photographs, so I would like to see more tutorials on color correction and using textures in the photographs. As for topics on photography, I would appreciate help with shooting in natural light. Actions: hmm…I already own several of your sets and love the ones them. Others are already on my wish list. I would probably love anything new that you design.

I would suggest for the photoshop tutorials, how to make backgrounds with brushes and also how to use them and make you own brushes. Also, what all can you do with them. Also, using a mask, text ect…I would love to learn how to turn my photography into an artwork look. I am looking to learn how to make photo collages as well.

Photography topics, How to get it right in the camera and how to develope your own photographic style. I am also seeing silouettes are very popular and have not suceeded in doing one yet on purpose. lol…Also, anything on how to start a studio, posing, large groups and weddings. Photoshop actions, I think it would be great to learn about frames, grunge effects and textures.

I am a photographer and (paper)scrapbooker and would love to how to go digital or how to create special pieces and then add them to the actual page.

I would love to see a tutorial on working with the skin tones in some of your actions such as All in the Details, because no matter what I do, I can’t get to skin to look quite right. Your actions change the background image so I can’t just create a mask and go back closer to the original.

I would love to see something on ideas for taking children’s portraits in the studio (not the “Wal-Mart” studio style…naturally)

Possibly some actions for textures.

I’d like to see an Adobe Camera Raw tutorial. As far as photography topics go, I’d be interested in a lesson on when and how to use a macro lesson and a lesson on achieving sunflare. 1 – Photoshop Tutorials – Sharpening is definitely one I’m interested in. Also, resizing images for certain print sizes etc. And I know nothing about curves, but again, I know you have a workshop for that.

2 – Photography topics – Hmmm….you do such an amazing job of talking about so much. Maybe some basic camera functions or workflow, I have no clue what I’m doing after I’ve taken a bazillion photos and I upload them. What about lightroom? I would love for you to talk more about that program or about integrating both lightroom and photoshop.

3 – Actions – Lightroom actions that do similarly what your photoshop actions do! Your actions are incredible!

I love your blog, advice and tips! I would love to see tutorials on working with curves and masks and also displaying photos in collages and story boards. As for photography topics on the blog – I enjoy all the topics you post. I would love to see something on shooting in really low light or really bright light (the extremes!). As for actions…I would love to read about how to choose which action set to use and when! I am all for streamlining workflow and would love to see more batchable actions. I would love to see tutorials on how to get better black and white in photoshop. I use your action in the complete set, but I would love to be able to do it myself and not depend so heavily on actions. First of all, Jodi, I must say that I LOVE everything about your blog and website. You are such a WEALTH of information. As for PS tutorials – maybe more on natural light processing. Photo topics – gonna go with natural light on that, too, but some neat studio setups and/or props are always fun. Actions for MCP Blog – you have so much to offer!!! Not sure I even know what to ask for, but keep doing what you’re doing. LOVE them all!!!

I would love to know more about how a wacom tablet is used for editing photos, I have one, but never used it . For photography tutorials I would love to know more about location scouting and coaching subjects to evoke natural interactions and emotions. Well, right now I’m struggling with getting these boring white overcast skies to look naturally blue in pics. So a tutorial on fixing that would be great! I know that you already have some, but if there are other options or ways to explain it that would be helpful. What are good natural poses that don’t look over posed in situations where someone is posing for you. I have a hard time coming up with new ideas for more portraits. 3.)I would love some dramatic lighting actions, similar to these remarkable textures you’ve posted. Well I am a big manual person and just now tryint to shooting in S or A modes.. I find myself never happy and always go back to manual because I don’t like what the camera chooses for me.. I know a lot of people only use S or A.. am I missing something? Also talk about auto ISO vs setting your ISO (I know you shoot canon – I shoot nikon – I believe they might be a bit different) my auto iso has a setting for min. shutter speed and max iso I want to hit.. seems like my camera stays at that max iso no matter what .. probably an io error – Idiot Operator on my part

Reminds me I must go through the archives here too. Oh, I would love to learn more about lightroom, I just feel so lost whenever I open that program. As for photography subjects more about lighting, flash, studio really anything would be great, it is all good. Actions? you have so many, I am not sure something to sharpen pictures just right for the web.

1. I would love to see more tutorials on specific types of post processing, such how to post process babies, toddlers, (I loved the one on teens), etc.

What I would like to see more on is maybe Lightroom. A way to use your actions in lightroom. Maybe a editing tutiorial from beginning to end ( upload, to editing, to post processing) From a typical session.
Shooting in bight sun in the middle of the day my hardest time to shoot.

More actions on working with the skin tones this seems to be my biggest issue right now. Maybe how to apply makeup digitally. And to go along the way with the lightroom stuff maybe a few lightroom presets.

and .. can you make WB for dummies … which WB setting do you use in the studio or with flash .. the “lightening bolt”? Or are there other times when you should use something different.

Photography topics would be different ways to nail focus and get sharp sharp images out of the camera. Also, real world photography situations from behind the scenes. How you handled difficult situations and why with concrete suggestions and exif data. Also, shooting when the light isn’t perfect. What to do?

Actions I would like to see are sharpening, color pop, vignetting, and anything to make work flow easier and faster.

Tutorials – Variations on techniques to make accurate selections. Ways to use color channels to affect the full color image. A good b/w tutorial is always helpful – how to create different style b/w versions of an image (or even how to decide if a photo is a good candidate for b/w), How to make selections to creatively apply effects – e.g. only to shadows, only to highlights

Photography – lighting tutorials are always good. How about mixing natural light with flash. Or a follow up to the pp question – how about shooting with b/w conversions in mind.

Actions – skin correction with layers, creative effects, selective exposure effects.

Tutorial: I love the tutorials that show step by step process on how you achieved a certain look. Using curves would be another one.

Actions: simple actions…I don’t want to have to do a bunch of tweaking to get the results, grungy actions.

I’d love to see more tutorials on working with images shot in very bright sunlight – we have no trees or shade where I am and it seems like many people want me to photograph them in the middle of the day!
A topic I’d like to see is helping subjects relax and have even more fun during a shoot.
I’m very new to actions, so not sure what new ones I’d like to see – you’ve got so many here already that I’ve only scratched the surface! Perhaps even more sharpening actions since there are a million ways to do it.

1) I would love to see a tutorial on how stretch my backdrop when it is showing in a pic. I bet its pretty easy, but I’m not sure what is the most time efficient approach and I am ALL about efficiency! 2) I would LOVE, NEEEED, JUMP FOR JOY like a six year old on Christmas morning. . . for a photography post to help me learn how to take sharp, TACK sharp photos! Every time I practice, I feel THIS time my pics will finally be SHARP and I load them onto my computer, and I am disappointed! Is it aperture, is it shutter speed, is ISO, is it my focusing point . . . is it me? I know we all have to start some where, but I am yearning to take pics that have SHARP eyes! (Clearly, I have had to much coffee today and am SUPER passionate about SHARPNESS! LOL!) 3) I have the MCP I Want it All package and all the freebies that have been posted (AMAZING!) so any other actions are just icing on the cake for me. Thank you so much Jodi! I would love to see photoshop tutorials on how to work with the actions. Blending them together and chosing the right actions to make the pictures flow and pop. like yours do!! Also how to on digital backdrops and texture use.

Photography topics I would love to see covered are anything with lighting and studio set up. and posing your subject.(What to say to them to get a certain look or feel.

Actions that could be of topic for the future would be different skin tone enhancements, and black and whites.

I would love to see a tutorial on making and applying a watermark to your photographs and also a section on sizing your photographs from photoshop to printing.I would love to see topics on getting your photo’s ready for printing,shapening etc.actions you have great framing actions already,but anything new is always great.

For example really dark pictures at a wedding indoors, or one that are washed out next to the ocean. Step by step. Or even posting a bad picture and tell why it’s bad.

Future Topics = Well, like everybody, I always like the giveaways. I feel like some more product reviews would be really useful, even if its just going through your own gear bag. Also on posing groups.

Future Actions = more free ones. Ha! Well, the edge sharpening is what I would’ve requested but since you just posted one… Maybe something on skin correction for those who haven’t yet purchased ‘magic skin’

* What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future? i am self-taught in photoshop and know many of the basics, and then i was introduced to actions – which i LOVE. however, i tend to use those more than anything lately, that i would love tutorials on plain any plain ole photoshop skills. for example, it took me a while to figure out how to “crop” layer. i know – i is there a way to apply an action to just one layer in ps?

I would love to see a photoshop tutorial on batch processing or workflow in general. Especially because I shoot RAW / jpg – I end up spending a lot of time on the workflow end of things. I would love to see a Photography tutorial on tips to engage children or families… and finally, actions I would like to see would be tonal changes – and also Presets, too! 1. Photoshop tutorial: Can you show me how to batch save? I know that should be easy, but I haven’t figured that out! I’d also like to learn how to make storyboards for my blog…or even for printing for the scrapbooking I never get done!

2. Photography topics: Actually, I’d love to learn how to put my clients at ease quickly. Making them feel comfortable in front of the lens. Not posed and stiff.

1. I really need just the basics. Like Photoshop 101 (okay maybe not 101, but maybe 201 or something). Your tutorials are SO helpful!
