Win Incredible Bokeh, Flare & Sunset Light Texture Sets – 20 prizes available!!!

Often times I feel so bad when only one or two people can win my contests and so many leave comments. Well if you are feeling even a little lucky, this is a contest for you!

20 winners will be drawn at random on Sunday night, the 19th of July.

The prizes: each winner will get two incredible sets of textures from Kaleidoscope (Light Set and Dream Collection).  These textures (especially the light set) are like nothing I have ever seen before.  They literally work in Bokeh, Sun Flare or even Sunset Light to your photos. WOW! Each prize is worth $88 retail.  So MCP and Kaleidoscope are giving away $1,760 worth of prizes! Talk about fun.

PLUS on Sunday everyone wins – as I will be posting a download link to two FREE MCP Exclusive Kaleidoscope textures! And a 40% off code on the full sets.  DO NOT MISS THIS!

Here is a quick play I did using the “light set.”

To enter and qualify for the contest (you need to do both items 1 and 2):

1 – Join my Facebook Fan Page at http://facebook.com/mcpfans. If you are already a member, that counts too – but make sure you are signed up for my page not just to be my friend. My goal is to start having my fans and customers use the wall and discussion section on the MCP Fan Page to ask questions and help each other with photography and photoshop related questions.  I get dozens of emails a day with general questions and cannot always get back to everyone with detailed responses.  So please go sign up today so we can get started in that direction.

2 - Leave a comment directly on the blog (not on Facebook Wall, FB Page, emailed to me) with the following three answers:

  • What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future?
  • What type of Photography topics would you like to see covered on the MCP Blog in the future?
  • What type of actions would you like to see from MCP in the future?

(When it asks for your name in the comments – I need you to put your 1st and last name – and if a common name – your photography company name so that it will be easy to post the 20 winners) – if you are unable to do this – you will be disqualified from this contest.

Win Incredible Bokeh, Flare & Sunset Light Texture Sets – 20 prizes available!!!

    1) What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future?
    — I’m not sure if this has been covered before but, I would love to see a tutorial on how to completely change the background on a photo. I have watched other tutorials and have attempted to do it a few times but I always seem to get part of the old background showing through, especially around hair, even though I thought I removed the old background. :)

    2) What type of Photography topics would you like to see covered on the MCP Blog in the future?
    — I would love to learn more about on location lighting. ESPECIALLY how to get great results with a light reflector.

    3) What type of actions would you like to see from MCP in the future?
—You have so many amazing actions already! Umm…Maybe like vintage and/or glam?

    I’m a facebook mcpfans member.

    1) I would like a photoshop tutorial on how to make/record actions.

    2) Photography topic: Developing client relationships. How do you make the client(s) comfortable during the photo shoot? What do you say? What do you do?

    3) How about an action that automatically puts in texture in the background without affecting skin tones?

  3. 403

    I’m a facebook mcpfans member.
    1) I would like a photoshop tutorial on how to fix faces that have sunlight and half blocked by a shadow and also what setting should I be editing my photos in photoshop. I notice it’s not the same when I post to my blog.
    2) In photography I would like to see more tutorials on using my flash.
    3) I would love to see more textures in the mcp actions.

    Hi Jodi :)

Here’s what I’d like to see:

    * What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future?

Head swaps! Removing objects from images. Changing colours of backgrounds, objects etc.

    * What type of Photography topics would you like to see covered on the MCP Blog in the future?

I’d like to see tilt shift photography covered … what it really is and examples of how it can be effective.

    * What type of actions would you like to see from MCP in the future?

A set of beautiful black and white actions that will allow us to re-create the look of film.

    Thanks!

    Leanne :)

    I’m already a huge fan….on facebook too!

    Ok…

photoshop tutorials….streamlining, shortcuts, color correction, batch processing, using and understanding histograms…

photography topics….exposure in general, exposure selection..when there are light and dark focal points, white balance.

actions….I love all actions. I don’t discriminate! I would, however, love to see a build your own action package. Not one that selects two or three sets, but an actual “build you own” set. I find that I love individual actions from different sets. It’s hard to afford all of the sets, but, if a “create your own” option was availabe!!!!!! That would be “wicked cool.”

Future tutorials = more on the methods of Sharpening & pros/cons, also on evaluative light metering

Future Topics = Well, like everybody, I always like the giveaways. I feel like some more product reviews would be really useful, even if its just going through your own gear bag. Also on posing groups.

Future Actions = more free ones. Ha! :-) Well, the edge sharpening is what I would’ve requested but since you just posted one… Maybe something on skin correction for those who haven’t yet purchased ‘magic skin’

    * What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future? i am self-taught in photoshop and know many of the basics, and then i was introduced to actions – which i LOVE. however, i tend to use those more than anything lately, that i would love tutorials on plain any plain ole photoshop skills. for example, it took me a while to figure out how to “crop” layer. i know – i is there a way to apply an action to just one layer in ps?

  35. 435

    * What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future? I would love to see more workflow tutorials – I know you have posted them before – but I always find it so educational to see how others manage this.
    * What type of Photography topics would you like to see covered on the MCP Blog in the future? Again, you do this already, but a big part of my work is getting to be family portraiture. Hi there!
I would love to see a photoshop tutorial on batch processing or workflow in general. Especially because I shoot RAW / jpg – I end up spending a lot of time on the workflow end of things. I would love to see a Photography tutorial on tips to engage children or families… and finally, actions I would like to see would be tonal changes – and also Presets, too! * What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future?
Well, here’s the thing, and you may not believe this, but I promise it’s the truth: I often don’t realize that I really need to know how to do something until you post a tutorial. Then, I’m all, “I can’t believe I haven’t been doing that!” I mean that “lose 10 pounds” trick? Changed my life! So, yeah, just more. (I know that’s not a helpful answer, but it’s the truth.)

    * What type of Photography topics would you like to see covered on the MCP Blog in the future?

    1. mmmm….don’t know aobut the editortial’s…might be nice to see how to shorted your workflow (I mean I know the actions and what not are a HUGE help) but maybe how to do stuff to a batch of photos so that you don’t have to do it to each picture individually.

    2. I would like to see some topics about flash photography. I know natural light is very popular but there are cases (night weddings) were a flash would be necessary. I would love to see more tips, how to use a flash and editing a picture where flash was used.

    3. I really like all your actions…so many some more that add cool borders to the photo (Like the negative look, burned edges, different wideths and color of borders) maybe you already have this??? but I can’t remember and I don’t want to leave this page and start my post all over again!!!

One of these days I am bound to win!!!

Thanks so much for all the tutorials you’ve already done! I’ve learned a ton! I’m so new to photography, the whole workflow-to-print process and saving all the different file versions is confusing to me. (I’m sure others have mastered though..I’m just slow that way. LOL)

I think you do an excellent job of presenting a variety of topics which are useful to all skill levels. Just keep them coming!!!

Hi Jodi! I am so excited about this contest! I have been looking for textures that do something like this for a long time!

tutorials on blog: I would like to see tutorials on how to fix green cast on images with people… when shooting in lush green locations this is a huge problem for me…sometimes it makes the skin too magenta when I try to fix it so a lot of times they end up black and white…

Photography Topics: would love to see OCF info! am really having fun with it but would love to learn more :)

Actions: I really like your actions, but I would love to see an action similar to your blog it and print it boards that we could use for standard card sizes such as 5×7 flats or folded customized to WHCC. lol! I know…I’m not asking for much :) But it can’t hurt to wish…

Thank you for all that you do to help the photography community! you are great!

  68. 468

I’d like to see more tutorials on skin color correction. I’d also like to hear more about how to use off and on camera flash, studio lighting, flash diffusers. Actions- I really love all of your actions, I can’t really think of any other actions that I need. You are the best Jodi!

  69. 469

    1. I would like to know the basics of photoshop. I don’t know what curves are and that kind of basic knowledge.

    2. I would like to know more about your opinions about equipment, lenses, and lighting techniques especially sun flare.

    3. Any kind, I would like to know how to use more complicated actions. I have many actions and I really only know how to use some of them.

I would like to see a tutorial on how to make your own templates for storyboards. And some ideas for marketing, how to market to a price conscious communtity?

I would like to hear your thoughtson after market lens manufactures in comparison to the proprietary lenses (Nikon , Canon, Olympus, etc).

That is about it for now…

    Thanks, Jennifer

Karen Ludwig - Karen Ludwig Portrait Photography says:

Photography help: I use Photoshop to clean up skin blemishes and run MCP actions (eyes, teeth, skin) but do the bulk of my work in Lightroom. Since I am self taught, I guess it would be nice to get the basics of PS so that I know what I am doing is right.

Photography topic: Finding the light when on an outdoor shoot.

Actions: I have some actions that I do not know how they work or when is the best kind of photograph to apply them to.

  77. 477

I have so many answers to these three questions!! But I’ve narrowed it down…so here goes:
    1. WORKFLOW! I feel like I’m not utilizing my time efficiently. For example do I have to apply my watermark to every picture individually? Isn’t there a way to do it in bulk? :) Also, I’d like more help with masks…when I use some of the actions they can effect skin tone too much and I’m not sure how to correct it.

    2. THE ART OF POSING!! I have the idea in my head, but it’s hard to get it out. Poses for clients of ALL ages and both sexes…is it me or are guys harder to pose? Also, LENSES!! What lens, when, why? Prime? Zoom? And one more…the debate between RAW and JPG.

    3. MORE ACTIONS?!?! You already have so many fantastic ones!!! I think enhancing the sky would be a fun one to add. I’m constantly using the patch tool to remove blemishes, rashes, and other imperfections…a quickie action would be awesome!

Thanks for all you do Jodi! You are AHHH-mazing!!

  78. 478

What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future? More on skin perfecting… and masking… Hmmm… maybe they’re linked?

What type of Photography topics would you like to see covered on the MCP Blog in the future? Showcasing photos on websites…

What type of actions would you like to see from MCP in the future? Free ones – LOL!!! Okay, you gotta make a living ;) Hmmm… more all-inclusive actions… one action that you can adjust to perfect your photo, instead of having to run multiple actions…

  79. 479

I would love a Photoshop tutorial on how to make the popular “sloppy” borders.
I would like you to cover photography topics regarding how to get correct exposure indoors.
I would like to see an action on how to get rid of shadows on faces or sloppy borders.

  80. 480

In the future I would love to see tutorials on white balance. I would love to hear from other photographers about better lighting techniques. As well as some fresh new posing ideas. And lastly I would enjoy more photoshop actions dealing with white balance, and classic black and white.

    1. i would also love some workflow ideas, how to streamline your processing
    2. some of the business aspects of photography: paying taxes? marketing?
    3. i love textures and vintage finish actions.

thanks, you do some fantastic stuff!

  82. 482

So often do I look at your tutorials and topics and think that it was just what I needed to read about at that moment.

I use some actions, but actually do my own steps a lot of the time, too. I have no idea on how to create certain actions, like an action for watermarking. A tutorial on this would be super helpful!

As far topics go, shooting in full sun is something I cannot read enough about!

Actions… I am a “make your saving easier” junky and use some of yours already.

Photoshop tutorials – color correction, using textures, black and white conversion and making softer images using blurring or other techniques. What about covering Adobe Lightroom also. This is getting to be a really popular app for photographers, and I’m wondering about purchasing it to do more of my initial RAX editing in before editing final details in PS.

Photography topics – Anything would be great, especially lighting and composition techniques

MCP Actions – That is a hard answer to give. Maybe an action for resizing a photo for different print sizes. Your existing actions are really great, and I will be purchasing more in the future.

    Thanks, Jodi!

What type of Photoshop tutorials would you like to see on the MCP Blog in the future?
You already post so many amazing things, I really haven’t gotten through all the tutorials already in place, so hard to think of something else. 1 – I would like to see more tutorials on the different methods of color correction. I haven’t bought the skin cast blast actions yet (need to), but I would like to know how to do this without an action as well.

2 – I really have liked a lot of the tutorials about senior pictures and newborn photography, I think just more about the different areas especially maybe some on wedding photography, or big group photography. Also, I would love more tutorials on lighting.

3 – I’m not really sure about the actions since I don’t have any of your actions yet :( My husband’s graduate school pretty much eats up all of our funds. But hopefully soon I will be purchasing the Magic Skin set. So I guess I would say, more Retouching type actions.

I literally just purchased Photoshop last week and have been playing around with the program and am very excited about this contest!
