Seeing differently is being attune. The world is amazing place, I love using the lensbaby to help me realize that through my photos.

Seeing in a new way, to me, means seeing things outside of the box. It's easy for me to things how I've always seen them. Looking straight on, with no creativity. But when you take the time to lay down, get up, tilt...find new angles, then you are seeing a new way that you wouldn't have noticed before.

I think photography is such a great medium to be able to help others see in a new way. When I'm taking a picture, my thought is always "how can I get others to see what I'm seeing that they normally may not see or notice?" Whether it's capturing the tiniest of details in a macro shot, using lighting and lenses to create different effects, or working with color, you have the oppportunity and ability to change even the most mundane of things so that people are seeing in a new way.

When I was 16 and ready to get my drivers license, I was denied, because I was legally blind. After receiving my first pair of glasses (at 16 years old) I saw things in a whole new way. “Seeing in a new way” is what I want to happen to those who view my photos. I want them to have the same feeling I had when I received my first pair of glasses…like they are really seeing for the very first time.

I didn't learn to see in a new way until my first child was born. Then it seemed as if the whole world was new. Life was more colorful. Love was much sweeter. A smile was so much more meaningful. I try and capture that new way of seeing everyday in my photography. I try and see the deeper side of human beings, the more beautiful side. The honest side. Seeing in a new way for me is seeing things the way a child would see them, the way my daughter sees the world everyday of her life; unconditionally lovely.
