Quick Tip: Photoshop Shortcuts

Yesterday I taught you how to assign F Keys to your actions.  But another cool thing you can do is assign those same Keys to other stuff.

As you may know, Photoshop has numerous shortcuts built in. Everything from bracket keys (increase/decrease brush size) to D and X (to set colors to default and swap colors in the color picker).

But have you every wanted to know how to set your own?

Start by going to the top navigation in Photoshop.  Go under EDIT – KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS.

Expand the section that has a function you want to make a shortcut.  These sections correspond to the top navigation (ie. File, Edit, Layers…) Click in the gray area next to the item you want to assign.  You can see here that I have assigned Flatten to F10.  Now instead of having to go LAYER – FLATTEN in order to flatten, I just click F10. So assigned your most used items. This is a HUGE time saver. Now you can enjoy your free time!

My problem with doing this would be that I would constantly forget what shortcut I had assigned to what key!! Lol…..
