SEO for photographers is so important. When local customers are looking for a specific type of photographer, you want to rank high in Google and other search engines.
Are you a photographer? Do you rank high in the search engines? If not, do you want to?
This SEO for Photographers Book will help you drastically. You can enter to win one of 1o being given away just by commenting to this post.
Here is your chance to win the SEO guide for photographers. Your photography business needs an SEO strategy to stay competitive. Zach Prez, the author of this guide and guest writer and sponsor for the MCP Blog, teaches photographers to optimize for search engine optimization. He is also consulting with MCP Actions for future SEO growth.
Contest Details:
10 SEO e-book guides will be given away to MCP readers. You could be one of the lucky ones. If you do purchase now, and win, your money will be refunded.
The Photographer’s SEO Book gives detailed step by step instructions on how you can improve your spot on Google. I just revamped parts of my site and am making adjustments to my blog so that I can come up higher in search results too. Of course it takes little work, time, and patience. But it will be worth it. I learned so much from the book and from my consultation with Zach, the author. Zach Prez has been doing search engine optimization for small businesses for 6 years, while working full time on major SEO projects for large corporations as a full-time job.
HOW TO ENTER:
Leave a comment on the blog (not on Facebook), and let us know why you need SEO for Photographers. Also let us know your SEO goals for your business in this upcoming year. Make it realistic. Tell us what terms you want to rank high for and your page goal for the searches. The Photographer’s SEO Book Winners will be drawn at random on Sunday, March 7th.
For a BIG BONUS ENTRY:
I have a favor I am asking of my readers. When I switched servers and blogs, I lost a lot of links due to a bad wordpress plug in that was installed and it hurt my rankings for over a month before I realized it. I need some NEW links from my blog readers and customers to help my own SEO. So if you read the MCP Photoshop Blog, watch MCP Photoshop video tutorials or enjoy MCP photoshop actions or workshops, I would love some “link love.” To link up, you can add links on your site or blog to the MCP site, blog or specific post. Come back to the comments and share a link where you did this under the comments. Plus MCP Blog readers can check out your site too.
Plus other ways to get bonus contest entries:
Good luck everyone!

I don’t know that Google is something that will ever bring me business. I’d like it to, but I live in NYC. There are soooo many photographers, that I don’t know how realistic any of my SEO goals are. My highest ranking is for “NYC lifestyle photographer.” I think I am on page seven. But – really – how many clients search for “lifestyle photographer?” Probably not a lot. Ideally I would like to be on one of the first five pages for “NYC portrait photographer” or “NYC family portrait photographer.” Right now I am way way way down for that, so if I could get in the top five – even the top ten at this point, honestly – would be great.
9:14 amMarch 4th, 2010
I linked your website, not on my photography blog – because I don’t have links there – but on my design blog. So hopefully that’s okay: http://seekandfinddesign.blogspot.com/
9:15 amMarch 4th, 2010
Although I rank well for my pregnancy and newborn photography, I am well down the rankings for what I feel is the most popular search: wedding photographers in Suffolk. My business would really benefit from a higher ranking and I am eager to learn how to achieve this.
9:18 amMarch 4th, 2010
I tweeted the giveaway. @KJPPhotography
9:22 amMarch 4th, 2010
I would like to be on page one of google ranking by the end of 2010 for the following searches: San Antonio Senior Photographer, San Antonio Newborn Photographer, San Antonio Children’s Photographer, and San Antonio Portrait Photographer! I would love to use this to help me get there!

SEO is still such a mystery to me! I would like to be ranked for Northern VA lifestyle photography and family photography. I’m pretty far down in the rankings though. I am trying to also focus on just VA or Northern VA family photography/photographer to be a bit broader as well.
10:10 amMarch 4th, 2010
I just switched my blog+site to WordPress several months ago and noticed just doing that improved my ranking quite a bit. I would like to hit the first page for the keywords I have chosen and I know it will take time.
10:22 amMarch 4th, 2010
I personally know nothing about SEO. And considering that my website is in the vastness of internet space… at least fifteen pages back. Since I am a “part time” photographer, I need as much information I can get in order to do everything on my own. I know this book would help me understand why I can’t get my website to pull higher than it is and would set me apart in an area where we have soo many photographers. I truly think that Nashville may actually have more photographers than musicians now.
10:32 amMarch 4th, 2010
I rank pretty high for most of my keywords and I want to focus on staying there! Part of my trouble though is figuring out what my key words are. I live in an area where there are SO many little towns and I need to work on making sure I’m covering all my bases in my keywords.
10:37 amMarch 4th, 2010
My SEO goals for next year… well, I think my first goal with SEO would be to learn more about it. I read a blog post about little tricks to direct traffic to my blog, tried them out last week and what do you know? It worked!!!! I had NO IDEA what adding a key word here or adding a key word there could do to increase my traffic. I would love an opportunity to learn more about it.
11:01 amMarch 4th, 2010
I think ANY change in SEO for me will be an improvement. I’m still relatively new, but would love to come up in the first 4 pages for “San Diego Family Photographer.”
11:08 amMarch 4th, 2010
I currently rank 1st on google for my city when searching for Williams Lake Wedding Photographer. I would like to be #1 for Quesnel Wedding Photographer, 100 Mile House WEdding Photographer, and Cariboo Wedding Photographer. I would also like to be on the first page for Kamloops Wedding Photographer and Kelowna Wedding Photographer. Working on that now!
11:08 amMarch 4th, 2010
I would love this book as I just finished my new website. Which by the way, has lots of images edited with MCP actions.
11:08 amMarch 4th, 2010
I tweeted the give away. @aimeelashley
11:10 amMarch 4th, 2010
I don’t have specific goals set as I’m just learning how to use my camera, but I’m researching and dreaming about what I’d like to have one day. This book would be a great resource to have before I start building so I can start out right!
11:20 amMarch 4th, 2010
Just getting my business up and running. Lots of portfolio builder shoots right now and working on my blog. Would love to win this so I can start off right.
11:21 amMarch 4th, 2010
oh, also I RSSd you!
11:24 amMarch 4th, 2010
What I really want to rank high on google is a search for “senior photography” combined with “Abilene Texas”. Of course, it would be even nicer if just “photographer” and my town ranked me higher. However, there are a lot of “hobbyists” in town and one or two really well known photographers, who don’t even rank on google. It would be nice to surface somewhere in the crowd that potential customers will notice. : )

This book sounds really good. Thanks for offering this!
11:30 amMarch 4th, 2010
This would be a great tool since I am in the baby stages of my business, I could go straight to the top:) I would like to be on the first page for Michigan Boudoir photography (and some other key words).
11:30 amMarch 4th, 2010

11:56 amMarch 4th, 2010
I posted your link on my blog (http://lorialley.blogspot.com) under my “Check These Out!” header on the sidebar. I’m happy to do it! I have learned so much here and LOVE the actions that I have purchased! In the past year, I have learned a few things about SEO just by reading blogs posts and trying things on my own, but I really want to learn even more. It’s fun to watch my rankings go up.
12:04 pmMarch 4th, 2010
My SEO goal for this year is to make it onto the first page of links on Google for photography in my area. Currently the top ranked photographer is someone who is no longer in my area. She ROCKED SEO while living here and thus still shows up. I would like to take over that spot, but would settle for first page this year.
12:05 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I was taken advantage of by a company claiming to be associated with PPA & GOOGLE, doing advertising and SEO, we set up and advertising plan and agreement and they cleaned out my bank account. It has been a long road to recover from that. I learned a huge lesson and didn’t get any SEO or advertising out of it. SO I WOULD LOVE THIS BOOK!
12:06 pmMarch 4th, 2010
Love you on Facebook!
12:09 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I have a link to the MCP blog on the sidebar of my site, under “Great Photography Blogs”
12:11 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I’m currently a subscriber, fan and follower, but I don’t think I’ve ever used any of them as an extra entry. How about one entry for all three and then I’ll know that I’ve used them all up?
12:16 pmMarch 4th, 2010
Oh how do I need to improve my Google ranking for Birmingham Children’s Photographer…let me count the ways!?! I would LOVE to have a copy of this book to help improve my “visibility”!!! I need major help in the SEO area
12:17 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I am a Facebook fan too
12:17 pmMarch 4th, 2010
My goal is to JUMP in and do ANYTHING to improve
I’m setting high standards here…I’d like to be the first in my area when “prescott photographer” is searched.
12:26 pmMarch 4th, 2010
You actually left me a comment to fix the link on my sidebar a few days ago (oops!) so you’re definitely under my “I wholeheartedly endorse…”
I don’t really qualify for the contest though since I a) don’t run a business and b) don’t think anyone even reads my blog.
12:34 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I am WAY back on the list… I am just this year working on really boosting my business…. so I would LOVE to read this book…. hope I win!
12:39 pmMarch 4th, 2010
Honestly – my goal for SEO for this year is to actually LEARN what it is I’m supposed to do and do it. I’m not going to focus on where I need to be since I’m not even sure how to go about getting there, but I think actually starting would be a good goal for me.
1:19 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I guess my SEO goal is to take SEO more seriously and begin making efforts in my post titles.

1:37 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I would like to be on page one for Portland Oregon photographer, Hillsboro Oregon photograher, Forest Grove Oregon photographer, Banks Oregon photograher, portland child photography, family photography, portland baby photography, and portland maternity photography. etc. I’m already on page one for portland family photography which I’m happy about. I would love to learn more about how to do this!
1:50 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I would love this SEO Book. I have been curious have to draw more traffic to my blog. This would really help!

Understanding how to use them at all would be a good place to start!
2:51 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I’m completely lost when it comes to this SEO stuff. I guess my goal would be to show up period in a search that doesn’t include my full business name.
3:14 pmMarch 4th, 2010
With so many new people putting up websites and entering the market, I would like to insure that my site stays at or near the top.
3:17 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I don’t think I am ranked at all! New to the business after my inaugural year so I would like to figure out this ranking system and get myself out there when it comes to Portrait and Pet photography for sure! This book seems like the perfect place to start. Thanks to MCP for all wonderful posts and helpful hints and tips!
3:29 pmMarch 4th, 2010
Ah… to solve the mystery of SEO!! Can’t wait to read the book, whether I win or not!
3:30 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I am completely in the dark when it comes to SEO and how it can benefit my business. I would say that is my main goal to learn SEO and how to use it to optimize my business and become ranked as the one of the top photographers for my area (yuma, az) and beyond that to other areas and states.
3:31 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I would like to maintain page one ranking for my primary market (Edmonton) with the primary search terms being “Edmonton wedding photographers” and “Edmonton wedding Photography”. I wouldn’t mind inching up closer to the top 3 (currently 6th) for Edmonton results. For 2010, however, I plan on focusing more attention on gaining ground in three other markets where I am presently page 5/6ish (Calgary, Jasper & Banff) with the focus on “Calgary wedding photographer”, “Banff wedding Photographer” & “Jasper Wedding Photographer”.
3:36 pmMarch 4th, 2010
My goal for this year is pretty basic- implement a plan and start tracking. I have been blogging for about a year and occasionally someone finds me through a search but SEO is honestly a mystery to me. I have been considering buying this book but winning it would be even better!
4:22 pmMarch 4th, 2010
As we are trying to lean heavier on our photographing of weddings and that’s the direction we want to take…we’d like to see our site move from page 6/7 to 1/2 of google rankings for Nashville Wedding Photography/Photographers
4:31 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I linked to your site a few weeks ago on my “Sites Worth Stalking” page!
4:31 pmMarch 4th, 2010
My goal this year is to tag all of my posts with keywords and use words around my images to get me more Google hits. By the end of the year I want to be in the top 3 pages for MN senior photographer, Twin Cities Senior photographer, and Minneapolis senior photographer.
4:46 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I would love to win this! I changed my business name in 2010, along with my site and I cannot figure out how to boost my rankings with Google! Specifically, I’d like to target the senior market and newborn market!!
4:48 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I also link to your blog on my blog, under “cool places to check out”.
http://www.jennibonlineblog.com
5:15 pmMarch 4th, 2010
My SEO goals for this year….. First, I’d like to show up for as one of the top results for “ohio pet photographer”. I’m planning on doing this through my blog as my website is flash based. From there, I’d like to be at the top for other search phrases such as pet photography ohio, NE ohio pet photography, hudson ohio pet photography, etc. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to achieve this through my blog.
5:30 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I would prefer to get my name out through recommendations but if i am the first one who shows up under searches for kansas dog/pet photographer I’d be very happy.
5:40 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I’m pretty new to the whole SEO thing, so this book would be great. I just moved to a new state and am essentially revamping my whole business, so my goal for this year is to create a new web site with an actual optimization plan. I’d love to rank in the top few pages for “Baltimore children’s photography” and “Baltimore lifestyle photography.”
5:45 pmMarch 4th, 2010
Of course ranking high in Minneapolis or Minnesota WEdding Photographer would be the ultimate goal. But to begin I would like to be on the first page for some of the smaller suburb towns.
5:46 pmMarch 4th, 2010
Added you to my Google Reader!
6:09 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I’m just figuring out the SEO from the beginning, so my goal is first to make the top ten spot for newborn and family photography in my geographical area. No one shows up for newborn photography my specific town, and we’re 40,000 strong:) Gotta start somewhere, right!?
7:05 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I have been reading and working on my SEO for a little over 2 months now. I started my business in September and I feel like this is key to getting on the right foot.Sometimes I feel like I’ll never have success with it-But I am DETERMINED!! My hopes are to be on the first page–even 1st! I have big dreams and will not give up
7:08 pmMarch 4th, 2010
Oh I would love to move my rank up. We live in a very small town, really only one photographer who is retiring, and another like myself. To be come up on a search would be fantastic, just what I need to get a business going.
8:18 pmMarch 4th, 2010
I know very little about SEO even though I know I work more on it. My goal for the next year would be to develop my SEO strategy for my blog. Thanks for this opportunity!
8:43 pmMarch 4th, 2010

I’ve just moved to a whole new state and would love to have this so I know how to boost my website in this market, of course I would want to be on the first page or second at the worse. BTW, I am a fan on FB and follow you on Twitter
5:44 amMarch 5th, 2010
I hadn’t got round to adding links to my blog yet but you are my first, and deservedly so. My SEO goals? a) to understand the language. b) to not be a slave to SEO but get it working for me c) to build my advantage in my area (English /Welsh Border) and get to the top of the page- literally and metaphorically!
5:44 amMarch 5th, 2010

Thanks for the giveaway!
12:02 pmMarch 5th, 2010
I need SEO because there are many photographers in my area and quite a few of them rank higher than I do. I have tried to make sure they I have everything that I need, but have hit a wall. This is huge because most of my prospective clients will go online to search first and if I’m not on the list…I may have lost out.
I also subscribe to the feed and to the FB page.
12:10 pmMarch 5th, 2010
To learn more about SEO so my website can be on the first page of search results. Also more traffic would be nice. Thanks!
12:19 pmMarch 5th, 2010
I would love to win…I’m just starting my business and internet traffic is HUGE. This could help put me above the other local photographers. Having this would be such an asset to my new photography business.

I would love to have this book! I have done some SEO work and it has helped, but I know there is so much more I can do. I come up pretty high for Utah Newborn photographer–which is good because that is what I really love to do! But I don’t even show up when I search for my town–Park City Utah Photographer.

Well, I just did a search on Google a couple days ago under Spokane Children’s photographer. Went back 35 pages and couldn’t find myself, so I desparately need some help in this area! I’d love to rank in the top 5 pages for “Spokane Children’s Photographer”, “Spokane Senior Photographer”, and “Spokane Maternity Photographer”. Pretty lofty, but at this point pretty much anything would be an improvement.
6:45 pmMarch 5th, 2010
I’m a fan on facebook now!
7:07 pmMarch 5th, 2010
Great giveaway! I need this book because, even thought I feel like I’ve read a million web pages about this, I still have NO idea what I’m doing! My goal is to set up a working SEO system for myself, a framework that I can go from for every web page and blog post, and then tweak it as keywords become more relevant or irrelevant. Thanks for the chance!

I am fairly new at having a blog and am eager to learn more about SEO to increase my exposure in this highly competative world of the photography business. I am not real aware where I rank at this time, considering the search info. My goal is to learn more about SEO(which would not take much) and hopefully get my business on the “first” page of a search.
