1. I am starting out in photography and am trying to get a good lens collection going. After all my research this lens is the best all purpose portraiture lens I can find.
2. I’m wanting to do bridal portraiture and senior portraits as well.
3. My only lens is my 50mm prime so I have to go with 50mm.

I only have one lens and it is not wide enough for taking up close and personal portraits. I would be one happy camper if I had this lens to do my portraits. I am not sure what focal length it would be but love to get in real close.

I only have a kit lens on my 550D but love shooting portraits on the wider end (35-55mm). the crushed perspective looks great on the cropped sensor. I’d use the 17-50 to shoot automotive and architectural subjects, the shallow DOF and wide angle make for exciting photography!

Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography?
I like the flexibility of this lens compared to a 50mm.

What type of subjects or images are you wanting to photograph with this lens?

I photograph kids/babies and dogs/cats most frequently and I think this would be a great lens for that purpose.

What is your favorite focal length to shoot? Mine for example is shooting portraits at 50mm on a full frame camera

I like my 50mm because of the results and the quality bokeh

I would love this lens. It has been on my wish list for a while now. I think it would help with shooting children & portraits.
I have been using 50mm and it becoming a favorite
This lens would be a great addition to my trusty Canon.

Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography?
I “need” this lens to help me in lower light situations. I don’t currenty have a lens with a low enough f stop – so i get a lot of noise / blur when I am taking photos in lower light.

What type of subjects or images are you wanting to photograph with this lens? I would use it to take some portraits of children / newborns

What is your favorite focal length to shoot? My favorite focal length currently is my 200mm since softball season has started back up.
