How to direct subjects when posing. Seriously need help on that.
I am definitely lacking in the business side of things. I’m pretty sure I need help in the post processing too. I’ve been wanting to take advantage of a workshop but either can’t afford it or can’t make it work with my schedule.
I think that training people how to get the red eye out of photos is lacking. Every photo I take of me, there is me with red eyes, no matter what I do, I’m always photographed with red eyes. My eyes aren’t really red, so I’m thinking this is the most lacking. I’m interested in getting the red eye out before the actual photo is taken. Do I need to put drops in my eyes, do I need a better camera, or do I need to have some feature on my camera that gets the red eye out? No matter how hard I try, there always seems to be a little red in my eye.
The aspect of my photography training that is lacking is sports photography and learning the technique to get that perfect shot.
I think I probably need to spend more time on the fundamentals of shooting and getting to know how the camera works and working with composition. Whew, I guess that’s all of it. I think I started backwards. I love to play around with photoshop and will do a lot of editing, but I’d like to be able to take better pictures in the first place.
I desperately want to become a full time, professional photographer, but my business sense is sadly lacking. This series has wonderful timing. As for actual photography skills, I have yet to play with flash, though I’ll need to learn very soon.
I am lacking the ability to attract NEW customers, especially seniors.
Tough question! I think I’m lacking when it comes to developing a specific style. There’s so many things I want to try that I feel I’m all over the place. I need to figure out my look.
I am lacking in creativity. I can get the basics down but I want to be more consistent with my processing and be more creative with my posing. I would love some tutorials on getting better with my processing workflow.
I need to learn more about ‘finding the light’ to achieve a correct exposure.
I am lacking in the technical aspects of shooting. I think I get lucky a little too often!
Definitely the business side of things from pricing to marketing etc… Also lighting!! All the different types of natural lighting situations we might encounter as photographers and how to harness it! Thanks for the contest
I hope it’s not too vast of an area but I’m lacking creativity in my post processing and posing! I know the basics but need to expand and further develop my style while I open my business and make as few mistakes as possible. Maybe gaining more confidence in my business and photo skills will open me up towards more creativity. Thanks for the chance to win.
Educate me please!
Pulling it all together! I can shoot and process… Great with marketing but tend to suffer with the business side of things and have no clue how do I Pull it all together so i can grow my business and take the next step
I so need help on the business/marketing side of things. Not that I couldn’t improve on post processing or other photography skills but I think MOST lacking is the business stuff. I was a teacher before being a photographer and I dealt with lesson plans, grades, remediating students, etc.- not tracking expenses, dealing with invoices, etc. Would love to win a book, a workshop, anything that would help me!
I need help with lighting. I think I have a fairly good eye as far as composition… but my lighting when it comes to portraits is never great. I’d love to get into the workshop!! Thanks for the contest!
Just posted to my FB page! Yes, I really would love to win
The business aspect for sure! I feel as though I have more than the basics of photography down. I’ve taken classes and know what I am doing. I feel as though I could be a little more comfortable with light. The business side is definitely where I am struggling, online with knowing what I am doing on my website. SEO…what is that…how do I improve that? Totally lost. Everything I read is gibberish…and I definitely have to improve that NOW. The last thing I know I am weak at is posing…especially couples. I love to play with kids, that how I get my best pics of them, just playing. But adults. I can freeze. It’s weird, but sometimes I just don’t know what to do with them and I prefer not to have everything so posed anyway. How do I “coach” them along? Thanks and I am crossing my fingers for this giveaway! It would make my day…er week..month

I would love to feel more confident in my post processing, but I also struggle with lighting at times. I’ve come a long way from where I was, and yet sometimes I feel I still have so far to go.

What aspect of your photography training do you feel is lacking?
Confidence, and how does one attain confidence, with knowledge. I am currently lacking in all aspect of photography so I would simply be tickled if I had a chance to attend the June workshop.
Thanks and good luck everyone!
I am in the very beginning stages of my photography career even though I have been dabbling in it for years. I lack formal training except for a few classes here and there and I am mostly self taught but as I get farther into it the more I realize I would love to take actual classes.

More info on where to find the best products (prints, frames, mats, albums) for clients would be awesome! Thanks for hosting this contest!
I really don’t feel all that comfortable in photoshop, I can run actions and do small things. I have learned a lot through trial and error. I would love to take a workshop but I either can’t afford it or I am way to busy (2 jobs).
I tweeted your sharpening actions. Here … http://twitter.com/thesimplegal

I feel that I’m lacking in the posing area. I tend to be a very photojournalistic type of photographer but realize that the outcome is so much more pleasing with some gentle posing tips for my clients – young to old. I’d love to have more education in this area.
thanks,
nancy

I feel like I am lacking the skills to pull it all together. I have a lot of knowledge in photography, some knowledge with post processing on the computer and some knowledge dabbling in business but I need major help streamlining it all into being successful!
I posted the banner on my blog.

I really need to learn how to master the light. I desperatly want my pictures to look a certain way and my vision doesn’t always translate in my pictures
I feel as though the business aspect of my photography training is lacking. I need to have more confidence in my abilities and learn to value my work more so that clients will follow suit.

My weak spots is still the camera. I can rock it when I have the time to slow down and figure out what I’m doing (love apature) – but as a newly started professional – its the going from one location to the next and not thinking it fast enough to the next setting that I need help on.
I’m lacking in the skills I need to accomplish a clean look to my finished photos. I feel like I am close, but there seems to be something just out of my reach that I don’t yet know.
I lack the marketing skills I feel is needed to be highly sucessful in such a competitive industry. Where do I direct my marketing cashflow?? What techniques really work to gain new clients and get the type of exposure I want?? No clue!!!
BUISNESS end esp with ordering .I dont know how to get clients to go big!

For all my knowing, I know there are many things I don’t know. I’ve been slowly trying to explore the world of photography for almost two years now, but really, I’ve been fascinated with photography my whole life. After I got my camera, I started taking thousands of pictures- of anything and everything, from every angle, in any light. I explored the world of post processing, enjoying everything I did. Now, I’m to the point where I need to learn how to make the leap from passionate hobbyist to real professional. I’m most lacking in business development skills- this is the part that makes me doubt myself. Yet I also know that I will always be on a journey of discovery with every aspect of my photography- and I look forward to that.
I a fan of your facebook page.
I follow you on twitter.
I lack in marketing and post processing…with the resources available today, post processing can ALWAYS improve!
For me its the dealing with people aspect. I get flustered and nervous and all the posing, people skills I have go out the window.. I need to watch/shoot with seasoned photographers and get some confidence!
I am lacking on the technical part of the business. Also this workshop is perfect timing! I’ve been wanting to become a full time photographer & I need some major help!
I feel the need to improve substantially in my branding and marketing skills, I think it’s though to learn this stuff from books and online courses.
I feel that my education on knowing all the in’s and outs of my camera are lacking. I need to learn more about it so I feel comfortable getting great shots. I highly rely on my graphic design background to “edit” when I don’t get things quite right in the original.
I subscribe to your RSS feed
I’d like to work on dealing with customers – I’m awfully shy and I don’t know how to get out there and market myself. I think I could also use some confidence in my own photography.

Need help with the business part and with PP.

I need more help with the business side of things!!
I LOVE to edit . . . I mean, LOVE to edit . . . BUT it takes so much time . . . I’m struggling to think that there is no way I could adequately get paid for the amount of time I spend editing, and that makes me sad b/c I love to do it. I keep thinking there’s got to be a quicker way.

I’m sure there are lots of areas where I’m lacking, but I think the biggest lack comes in the area of business management and marketing.
I am pretty good with natural lighting but I really need help with studio lighting.

I am also now following you on twitter.
I am like a sponge right now, but I would love to learn more about the correct way to charge people
i lack in the staging/posing area.
I tweeted here: http://twitter.com/MarlaDeKeyser
I am lacking “the know who” for edition and use of light. I think that I have the “eye” to get a nice shoot, but sometimes results are not as expected. I am eager to learn
HOPE to win the chance to get into the workshop!
I feel like I mostly have the business side ready to go. However, I am struggling with how to attract the type of client I’m targeting. I think my shyness gets in the way. Ugh.
Post Processing! There is so much to learn! I would also like to learn the most efficient ways to process my images. Great blog series by the way, looking forward to the who week
I’m definitely in need of all that goes into the business side but I feel like I’m lacking that one thing that ties everything together. I think I need a weekend of shooting with a mentor that takes me through lighting, composition, post processing. Thanks for this Get Educated series!
I would love to learn how to better use off-camera flash. Every time I start, it seems overwhelming!
What aspect of your photography training do you feel is lacking? I need to learn more photoshop and lightroom skills
I’m lacking in my post-processing workflow.. help!
The part that I feel I am lacking the most is knowing how to interact with clients during a shoot, to get the best expressions out of them. I find it very difficult to get easy going, relaxed expressions from clients who don’t enjoy being in front of the camera.
I need help with everything, but especially the business end of things.
I am still learning how to use my camera in manual mode. I’m almost there. I haven’t even begun the business side of things. I am more of a hobbyist at this point. Some day though!
I am lacking the marketing side of the business for sure! I want to get my name out there and book shoots, but need to learn how to market myself.
Just posted on FB!
The Business part is lacking for me!! I feel like there is a ton of info, but I just don’t know how to compleatly trust and jump into all the business info!
What do I feel I am lacking….knowing more in photoshop. I get things done but not sure how sometimes and local color casts kick my butt! I also lack in biz…marketing, organization, bookkeeping. I’m doing the best I can but probably not as efficiently as I could.
What part of my photography training do I feel is lacking? Well for photography itself, I would have to say posing is something would love to learn more about. For a photography business in general, I would say marketing.
I think the biggest thing I am lacking is consistency.

The biggest part of my photography training that is lacking is understanding how to work in Photoshop.
First would be managing the business side of my business boy that gives me a headache just speaking of it. I also would love some help in the lighting area. yes I know how to find the shade, back lighting but know how to use that light on my subjects face and even throwing in some ocf would be nice too.
