    Beckie says:

My biggest obstacle is myself. I want to charge enough, but am afraid I will charge too much. I need more confidence that my photos are worth what I charge.

  6. 606
    Laura says:

My biggest obstacle is now that I’m finish PB’ing for friends & family, how do I convince others that I’m worth paying for instead of running to Picture People, Walmart, etc.?

  7. 607
    Marcus says:

My biggest obstacle is that I’m on a college campus where there are 14 other photographers who are doing the exact same thing as I am, but are charging far less. I increased my prices around this time last year and the number of clients I got was cut in half, so I can barely afford my utilities. Thank god for scholarships or I’d be in serious trouble :) I fear that if I increase my prices again I’ll have no clients and no income at all.

    Jessica says:

As a new photographer startup, my biggest pricing challenge is balancing what I think I’m worth with what it takes to make money with my photography passion!

  9. 609
    Nicole Israel says:

My biggest obstacle is underpricing – I feel like people will balk at the price if I charge them what I want to charge instead of what I think they will pay.

  10. 610
    Carrie Harvey says:

I’m afraid people won’t take me or my “work” seriously if I charge too much.

    diana says:

I really, really need help with this!!! I stepped into this business without meaning too, but have loved it every step of the way. I’m ready to go from hobby to truly being a photographer, but can’t get the pricing staged in to where I feel good about it, and my current clients don’t drop me like a fly. HELP ME!!

  12. 612

Like so many others, just finding the sweet spot, feeling confident about it and worth it!

  13. 613
    Frankie Kins says:

My biggest pricing problem is that people in our town seem to expect something for nothing. And I agree with the family and friends thing. I have even had family volunteer me for a shoot for one of their friends that I was expected to do for free.

  14. 614
    Amy says:

My biggest pricing fear is what my friends and family will think when they see that I’ll be charging more than Target. In some respects I don’t care what they think, but I need to prepare a response for when they ask why I’m charging what I am.

  15. 615
    Stephen Bragg says:

I have not completely started my business, but I am afraid that I will charge too much and then completely botch the session.

  16. 616

I’m not confident enough in my work to price myself high enough.

  17. 617
    Noelle says:

Because I am just beginning to charge, being unsure of what the clients will want and how to price what they do want even if it is one time only with a new vendor. I want to be competitive and make no excuses but will they buy it if is too high – that is the fear.

  18. 618
    Lynne says:

My biggest pricing obstacle is trying to figure out if I’m truly too expensive or if I know really cheap people. LOL I don’t feel like I’m making much profit for the time spent.

  20. 620
    Mindy says:

My biggest pricing fears are where to even get started…and realizing how complicated it is to figure out a good pricing structure!!! And that I may be worth more than I imagined, but if I charge more…will I get clients as I start my busines?!?!? So many fears…and I haven’t even started yet….:(

    Christine says:

My business is not up and running yet,I am afraid of pricing too high AND pricing too low that my prices don’t match the quality of work and I don’t end up being compensated adequately for my time.

    MaryAnn says:

My biggest pricing fear is not feeling as though I’m worth the price and where to set that price

  28. 628
    Pam says:

I currently belong to a league of artists in my community (painters, leather maker etc.) The pricing problem comes up all the time in our meetings: How do you price? How do I compare to my competition? Are my prices competitive? I would love this product to help others and myself understand better how to price. Thanks

  29. 629
    Pam says:

I am already a FB Fan.

  30. 630
    cassie says:

I hesitate to charge a lot because what if I mess up, but I want them to pay otherwise they won’t value the product the same way.

  31. 631
  32. 632
    Tatyana says:

I don’t have a business yet but my biggest fear is not knowing what to charge. I tend to think “would I pay X for this?” and my answer is usually no (I’m hands on, I’d rather buy my own camera y’know?) but I always have to remember that I’m not in my target demographic.

  33. 633

No one calls me? is it my pricing? is it me? is it my web page? or are there not enough people seeing my page to get calls?

I have many issues in my new little business, pricing one and juggling family another I could add more but I would not get anything else done today!

    Gillian Ottaway says:

I find it impossible to know when the right time to raise prices is :S

  36. 636
    Christina says:

My biggest fear is charging what my work is worth. The people around me don’t see the real value in custom photography. I know they won’t be my target client base, but it is a bit discouraging.

  37. 637
    Debbie says:

The fine line of charging for a portfolio buiding session — even though I’m spending a lot of time and it’s precious time away from my son!!!

  38. 638
    Heather says:

My biggest obstacle/fear is over pricing. I’ve been taking pictures for about a year now but am so scared to quote someone too much because they might think “well, she hasn’t been doing this long enough” or fear of not getting enough pictures that they love.

  39. 639
    TRIE says:

I suspect I have the same fears as many when starting out….
pricing myself too low….or too high
    pricing packages…
also, how to tell friends NO I will not give you a super huge discount and WHY do you expect one……..lol

  40. 640
    Marta VonGrey says:

It is so hard to find the right balance between my level of skill yet making sure I do not undercut myself. My time is worth something yet the confidence to charge what I should is hard.

  41. 641

My biggest pricing obstacle is lack of experience. I don’t want to charge too much so that no one buys anything, but I don’t want to charge so little that I burn out because I’m not making what my time away from my family is worth to me. I have no reference point since I’m just starting out.

  42. 642
    Michelle Nolan says:

I’m terrified of starting to charge people. And when I start, where do I start???

  43. 643

Pricing to keep competitive and still getting business is my problem! We have cut throat photogs that continually cut our prices just to get the job. Sad thing is that they really don’t know the quality they’re getting!

  44. 644
    Susan says:

Pricing effectively in my market area so I am competitive and I can afford to stay in business.

  45. 645

My obstacle is pricing my print products at prices that are reasonable for my clients yet worth my time.

  46. 646
    Jenni L says:

Pricing to high and feeling confident in what we choose for pricing(value).

  47. 647

    Dominique says:

My biggest obstacle is pricing myself at what I’m worth for my talent, skill, and perspective. I want to price myself to work, but not overwork and be away from my family constantly. It isn’t much of a dream job to do something you love till it is something you hate due to being overworked, underpaid, and undervalued. I want to add to my family not take away from it. I want to price myself to have balance and enjoy the passion I have for seeing and capturing the light.

  57. 657
    Sarah Watson says:

As a beginner I just don’t know where to start with pricing! I don’t want to price myself too low but I’m afraid of people thinking I charge too much & going to one of the photographers that offers a full res disc for $50!!

  58. 658
    Sarah Watson says:

Bonus Entry – I’m a facebook fan xxx

  59. 659
    Amanda says:

I cannot remember if I’ve entered this already.

I’m not in business, but my pricing fear is that when I do start I will not be able to really command a decent price for my works since I will be brand new to the prophotog world.

    Vicki Putnam says:

I biggest pricing obstacle is pricing myself too low. At first I justified it by saying that I was learning and just portfolio building. Although I feel my work in worth a hight price now, it is hard to tranistion past customers and stay competive with the next photographer.

    Jeanine says:

My problem is that I think that no one thinks what I do is worth paying for. I get tons of compliments on my photography, I’ve had people ask if I’d take photos of their kids, etc. … but I still think I should do it either for free or just charge a pittance. UGH! It’s a MENTAL issue, not an economic issue.

  74. 674
    Lee says:

My biggest struggle with pricing is worrying that I am pricing too high or low.

  75. 675

My pricing is too low for my sessions and my prints. I know that I am worth WAY more, but in this economy, I’m afraid people won’t pay higher.

  76. 676

    Anneli says:

I am having a hard time figuring out how to price myself, I want it to be worth my time but a the same time not scare people off. Just being on the brink of starting my business I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out pricing.

  88. 688

  97. 697
    Jill Heupel says:

My biggest pricing obstacle is when people illegally scan my images and reprint them at a lower quality or upload them. This takes away my ability to make a profit off of those prints and throws everything out of whack.

  98. 698
  99. 699

I have problems sticking with a price and being ok with people not booking with me based on my prices.

I am my biggest obstacle. I’m new to the biz, and totally undervalue my work. That needs to change soon.
