Share Your Patriotic Photographs: Win 16×20 Prints
With the United States Memorial Day a week away, and with all the recent developments going on in the world, I want to give MCP Readers and Facebook Followers a chance to express themselves. Last year I received hundreds of amazing images from you, often accompanied by touching stories. I gathered around 20 of these incredible patriotic images and shared them on my blog. You are welcome to participate and share your images from anywhere in the world.
This year Color Inc Pro Lab has generously offered 16×20 prints, of the patriotic images, to the top 10 photos selected for the post on Memorial Day. Shipping is included if you are located within the United States. Those outside the USA will need to pay shipping for the print. For a very limited time, through June 2nd, 2011, get 50% off your 1st order at Color Inc, exclusions apply, by using the code: MCP2011.

I will be putting a post together for Monday, May 30th. Here are the details:
- MCP Actions will pick 10 photos to showcase on the blog that fit the themes “freedom” or “patriotism” or “peace.” If we choose more, only the top 10 shown will qualify for the complimentary 16×20 print.
- We cannot choose everyone’s images, but hope that you will send us yours for consideration, and check back next week to see the inspiring photographs.
For consideration/to enter (the rules)
- Please send your “freedom” or “patriotism” or “peace” photo sized 600px wide (smaller or larger photos will be disqualified) to jodi@mcpactions.com. Label the subject of the email: Patriotic, Freedom Submission
- Only photo submission per photographer – do not make us choose between your photos. We will not be able to respond to each email though we wish we could.
- The photo does NOT need to be taken recently; however, it does need to be your work, not that of another photographer.
- In the email, you are welcome to tell us about the image (optional).
- In order to pick your photo, we need you to include permission stating that you took the photo and that if selected, we may use the image on our blog, website, and Facebook Page. Please include your name, email address, company name and website or blog address (if applicable).
- In addition to sending us the photo, we would appreciate it if you would upload the same resized image to the comment section of our blog, so that photographers can see all the images, not just the 10 we choose.
- While not a requirement, we hope you will tweet or post this to Facebook, and share your image on your Facebook, Flickr, etc – as a way for everyone to have a chance to share their patriotism.
Deadlines and details:
- Photos must be received by Friday, May 27th, 2011 at midnight eastern time.
- Come back Monday, the 30th to see if your photo made the top 10 – and if so to learn how to redeem your free 16×20 print.
- Winners will be chosen by MCP Actions and the MCP Actions Helpers (Ellie and Jenna – age 9). As with any photo contest, we are looking for compelling subject matter, composition, good lighting, and ability to tell a story with your image. Judging photos is subjective – so please do not take it personally if yours does not make it on our site.

This was taken last year at our community memorial service. I was
walking with a restless baby and happened across the flag detail
waiting for their place in the program. I was touched at their
attention and respect to the service, even though they were out of
sight of the audience.
My father is a veteran of the Vietnam war. I am grateful for the service he gave, and for the service our military gives today. Uh Rah
My husband and I are both serving overseas in the Army. This photo was taken as a VIP landed at our base. I am incredibly proud to serve, and will take this experience with me for years to come.
I think a special little (ok, BIG) thank you is owed to every family member and friend of a soldier, airman, or marine. I know that without mine, I never could have done the things I have in the last year. The support I’ve seen is incredible- thank you all.
Posting the Colors at the Oklahoma National Guard’s send off for the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
My oldest son is part of this brigade and as we enter the Memorial Day weekend, they are about 15 days from being “wheels up” to central Afghanistan….
I shot my daughter’s wedding last November. She married a Navy man stationed in Italy and he only had one week of leave to come home and get married before having to return to duty.
My son-in-law loves the original picture of the navy man kissing the nurse on VJ Day in New York City and wanted to recreate it for his wedding. My picture is taken in downtown St. Paul, MN
This is one of my favorite images of my son, taken Memorial Day 2009.

My entry was last minute so I’m not sure if it made the cut off time but I submitted it anyway.
This is the first embrace from a military homecoming a few nights ago.
