don’t have a website, but have LOVED Jean and Travis and been their biggest fan. Have actually signed up for the class (waiting to hear) but would LOVE to win it as I’ve been saving for a year for it
. I believe that the beautiful lighting techniques will help me as I have just started to learn lighting in the last year. I’m SOOOOO excited and even if I don’t win…LOVE you guys and hope to see you in September!

make sure to add a regular entry too. I only see the one for facebook. Just add a comment to the post.
Just for good measure (and a second chance to win) I also posted it over on my personal facebook page:

I don’t know if I learned this, but it’s so nice to see someone move from 100% corporate life to a totally creative field. It’s a change I dream of making, I just don’t have the guts (or the savings!) to make it happen right now. I affectionately call what I do now a “not-business” since it’s mostly favors for friends and family, but I think this workshop could give me the push I need to get to the next level.
OOOOO I love Jean and Travis’ work and I would so love to go see them.
I really need some off camera flash work and they are the bomb! Love you guys!
I attended Travis and Jean’s first-ever He Said/She Said workshop. I was very new to photography at the time, and feel like the amount of information that they passed out was just more than I could absorb. What I did manage to absorb has so radically improved my work that I would love to attend the next one. I love their work, their style, and could not ask for better people to learn from. I’m so excited for a chance to win a free spot!
I knew right away what I found most helpful from yesterdays interview. I LOVED what they BOTH said their advice would be to a photographer starting out! SO TRUE!!! What Travis said hit home with me because I sometimes have a hard time saying no when I know I should!
I’m really hoping to win the seat at the workshop for a couple of, ok a few, reasons. #1 Lighting scares me! ha! I’m a natural light photographer and although I love it, I know that I need to learn at least a little about lighting and I’m sure this would be a perfect way to get my feet wet! And you never know where learning something new might take you. #2. The only reason I haven’t already signed up for the workshop is because all my “extra” money is tied up in updating my branding and it won’t be as impactful if I don’t learn how to better promote myself. Something I would love to learn from Jean and Travis since they’ve done such a good job at it! #3. I’ve met Jean briefly at another workshop and she’s just the NICEST person! And I would love to meet Travis!
Thanks MCP for this opportunity!
I would LOVE to win! I just love their work and would love to learn more about lighting techniques and get some new ideas from their creativity.
Oh My goodness…this would be AWESOME! I loved reading through everything yesterday and the “knock my socks off” was the tiny little link to changing your 50mm into a MACRO LENS…INCREDIBLE!!!
Fingers crossed that I’ll win! Been posted to my facebook page!
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1378980405
i loved the instant macro idea!
I would LOVE to attend this workshop. I’m at the beginning of my journey as a photographer, and I am ready to soak up as much knowledge as I can possibly get my hands on.
I loved the tip on yesterday’s blog about turning your prime lens backwards to use it as a macro lens! (And of course I already like MCP Actions on FB!)
For good measure I’ve also posted to my biz facebook page!

I have been a fan for a while! I would love to attend their workshop to learn to take my photography to the next level…oh and how to be totally fabulous. Jean- if I win I’ll bring my framed “e-mail art”…just sayin…hehe!
Second entry…posted to my facebook page:

I would love to win this! It would be great to see how they interact with their clients. And just basic things that they’ve learned from being in business to long!
I have been fans of Jean and Travis for what seems like forever now. I learned from their interview that even though they have 2 different techniques about things that they still have the same common goal and that is to get the perfect composition. I would love to win a seat to their workshop!
Jean Smith Photography and Boka Studios is my absolute favorite! They truly are an inspiration to me. I would love to attend their workshop. I love everything about them…their style, no-nonsense approach and their down to earth readings on their blog….they are just amazing!
I appreciate the macro and flash tips from the interview! And the tip about letting your husband quit his corporate job to purse his passion! I so wish my hubby was into photography like I am, we’d make a great team.
I think that this workshop would be so beneficial to my business by teaching me to go to places i’m not comfortable with–Flash!
I’ve liked you on FB for a long time!
I loved the interview with he said/she said. I love how they both come from completely different backgrounds and interests, and end up with the same passion. My favorite part was when Jean was talking about starting a business and how you know when you are ready. That was very inspirational to me, because it made me feel even more confident that I am ready. At the end of their article, I was wishing it was longer…so that’s why I would love to get a seat at that workshop. It would be amazing!
I shared this opportunity on Facebook
https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Photo-Journey/129695647085098
The most interesting thing I learned is that Travis has done what I have thought about many times; quit the corporate life to pursue his passion for photography. The realist in me says, “no way you’re crazy”, while the dreamer in me says, “why not?”. There is so much I have to learn before I could consider making photography a full-time career. This workshop would be an excellent opportunity to develop my skills and give me confidence to determine if I should keep photography as a hobby or take it to the next level.
Loved reading the blog post interview with Jean and Travis Smith ~ He Said/She Said!
The parts that struck me the most were Travis’ decision to follow his passion and Jean’s support to let him do it. I’m still afraid to let go and take such a chance. I also have 4 boys, who are now young men, and I am still looking for balance between work and family.
I would happily travel from Massachusetts to Detroit for a weekend of learning about photography. It sounds like it is going to be full of wonderful information and will be balanced by having the perspectives of both Travis and Jean. This could be the push I need to try marketing some of my photographs!

I would LOVE to win!!!
AH – this is the workshop for me. I too left the corporate world just a few years ago (to care for our children & MI economy wasn’t on my side) and recently created my own photography business. I think their experience would benefit me greatly PLUS I really like that they will be focusing on one lighting tech. to help enhance images. I’ve been focusing on newborn/baby and senior portrait work so both Jean & Travis have a speciality that I can incorporate into my offerings. I can not afford to attend this workshop on my own so winning would be WONDERFUL. I will soon be sending additional entries via social media links. Oh – I’ve been a MCP FB fan for awhile.
Thanks,

I loved their advice about how to make a 50mm a macro lens! Great suggestion. I am going to go try that right now!
Love the idea of making a macro lens!!!
added to my FB page: http://www.facebook.com/martha.wells21
and tweeted too: https://twitter.com/#!/mousew ~ where I link to a photo a day from my collection!
I loved that Travis quit his job to pursue his passion. I did that almost 11 years ago with no regrets (well, almost… I was laid off and started my own design biz). Now that I’ve got tons of great equipment and have been practicing like crazy, I want to add pro photography services to even more of my clients. This workshop would be wonderful!!
Ok so when I first read the macro tip. I had no clue what they were talking about, but after reading more on it, I LOVE the idea!! So clever! I hope I win!
I posted to my personal Facebook page too.

Oh my goodness would I love to win this!! I’m uberly passionate about photography and would to win a chance to attend their workshop!! I loved reading Jean and Travis article yesterday, and have enjoyed searching their websites. The tip about using your 50mm as a macro lens, is amazing!! Thanks for the chance to win!!
my favorite tip would have to be the macro lens tip, brilliance! Fan on facebook.
I don’t have a business because I want to be better before I start one. This workshop would be PERFECT for me. I want to explore my style, natural light, or artificial, or both. Oh man I want to win. PICK ME!
What did I love? I loved the idea of creating your own sun with OFC. I need to learn this for seniors…… really, really need to learn this. I’d love to win a seat in your workshop! I also love that you have 4 boys….. wow! I have 3 boys + 1 spit-fire little girl and there are days…..let me tell you.
Anyhow, I’d love to kick up my photography a notch or two, and I think your workshop would be the answer!

This would be an amazing workshop to attend. Jean did a session with a friend of mine and I’ve been following her work ever since in awe. The part that hit me is that it’s ok to say no and in fact, should say no more often. A huge benefit of the workshop for me would be to gain more confidence so I know I would be giving each client that amazing portfolio Jean was talking about. It’s about improving your skills and never thinking you’ve arrived but keeping the passion at the same time. This would be great!
Besides the bit about letting your husband pursue his dreams (I’m trying, I’m really trying!) I loved this little tip: “A fun little trick is to turn your 50 mm lens into an instant and super sharp macro lens by taking it off the camera, turning it around, and manual focusing.” Gonna try that today!
I added your banner to my blog….http://bugginoutinwi.blogspot.com/

I already like ya on FB!
Oh I would LOvE to win this spot in their workshop. I recently moved to MI so the location is ideal!! I obviously would love to soak up all their knowledge and talent but I’m mostly interested in lighting techniques and some business tips! Basically it woul be AMAZING to win this spot
thanks for the giveaway!!!
I would really like to attend this workshop because these two take great pictures and they have a very similar background to myself. I’m right at the spot where, I’m getting good technically, but I really need a push to get out and shoot new things creatively and add to my portfolio to attract the clients that I want to shoot. Plus it would be great networking and getting to meet other photographers in the area is a great thing.
I loved the article yesterday and the macro trick, I can’t wait to use it! I have had a love of photography for 10years now and just recently started a business out of it. I have soooo much to learn still. I would LOVE to attend the workshop they are having to help me get on my way

I thought I was Jean and Travis’ biggest fans but it looks like there are many of us out there. Not surprising they are amazing. I want to go SO BAD!! I want to specifically learn from Jean how to get such natural lovely poses. I also love how spot on she is. I love how her pictures look more like your looking through the window then a photograph. I would love to learn some tips from her on how to get better exposure. I would also LOVE to learn from Travis about alternative light. Boka Studios and Travis Smith Photography inspire me so much. His senior work is what helped me realize that is the path I want to go.
Wow, thank you for this amazing opportunity. I’m just starting out and am eager to learn from people like Jean and Travis, who have jumped in with both feet (or should I say all four feet) and have really made a splash. And Jean’s tip with the 50mm lens is so clever.
I really loved how Travis said to shoot what you love! It made me thinking what I should be focusing on. I am not really sure yet what I love the most now. I hope their workshop will help me figure it out in a way… I like MCP on FB
Would LOVE to learn lighting techniques!
I know that the knowledge and fun potential for this workshop is 2nd to none. After reading your interview with Travis and Jean, their tips left me wanting more! Using your 50mm as a macro = BRILLIANT! And the Off Camera Flash tip, so cool! It’s creativity and technicality like this that makes their work awesome. I would definitely be a sponge, soaking up everything they offer, and I know this could be an elevating experience for my business.
I really want to figure out that reverse the lens thing. I don’t get it. This would be an amazing workshop to win. I love their style.
This is just what I need to compliment my journey to be a professional photographer. The one piece of advice to “consistently produce a full gallery of quality images…” speaks volumes in what it takes to do this professionally. Oh how I’d love to win this!!! Thanks for the opportunity!!!
I posted it on my blog….

I LOVE Jean and Travis!!! I am so excited that you interviewed them about their styles and their own photography businesses. I find it so interesting that both of their passions is photography and they can work together and separate and still raise four beautiful boys!!! I would LOVE to attend their workshop in September – it would be a dream come true!
Just posted about the contest on my Facebook page!!! http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=803449027

Wow to have a chance to learn from Jean & Travis would be awesome!

I would love to win this! I too am in the corporate world and want to jump ship to a full time photographer. This workshop is exactly what I need to improve my skills.
Wow! This looks like fun! I had no idea about turning my 50 mm backwards. You’ve just given me something new to do today. I would love to attend this workshop, I have attended a workshop before, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. It increased my confidence, and also gave me more ideas to get my business off and running. I’d love to do this for more experience. I am a complete sponge with photography. I cannot wait to soak up more info about it. Jean and Travis look like a lot of fun. I can’t wait to win this and attend!
Wow! This would be AMAZING for me! I think that I would take so much from this class. Especially the business side of everything, which I am trying to nail down at the moment! In addition…I would love to watch Jean in action…his photography so speaks with me. Yes, I spent a good part of a busy afternoon looking through his images on his site…wishing I could be as creative and fresh as he is! I LOVE his editorial edge…yes, that is some serious jealousy!
Also, right now Southwest has deals for $59 one way flights all over the place…so IF I am chosen…you better believe I will be booking the flight Friday! Thanks for the AWESOME giveaway….your best yet!

Okay, mentioned this on facebook too! Now, gosh…I need to get ready for a trip…and I am late! Yikes! But, I couldn’t not try to score this awesome giveaway! Thanks again!
I added your banner to my blog!!
I would so love to win a spot in this workshop! I am still fairly new to owning a DSLR, but have always taken tons of pictures! So far I have pretty much been self taught and I would be wonderful to find out if what I have been teaching myself is right
I loved the macro tip and I am also very inspired that no matter when you started your photography journey, it can bloom into something amazing!
Thanks so much!
I also tweeted it out!
I’ve been into photography for a very long time, and as a single mom out of work for the last year, I’ve had more time to devote to my photography. I would so love this class to kick my sessions up several notches, and learn more about lighting! I’m a family photographer and do shoot mostly outdoors, but getting a handle on lighting-both studio and and fill-in for outdoors-would be an enormous boost for my start-up business. I am so eager to learn, I know I could come away from this workshop with much knowledge-great for me, great for my clients! Also, the business sense Jean and Travis share is so important to us novices!
I loved the trick of turning the 50mm around for macro-I’ve been playing with it, and it does take a bit of practice. These are the kind of tips I would look forward to learning in the workshop.
I would love to win a spot, but whoever does-congrats and have a blast!
Also posted to my FB!
I greatly respect and admire Jean and Travis and their work! I have been dreaming about attending one of their workshops before they even offered one. I have had the great pleasure of camping with the Smith fam (back when they “only” had 3 boys!) and I had no idea, until I read the MCP Actions interview, that she has only been in the business for about 5 years! I have been fascinated with photography since I was a kid and have always known I would end up pursuing photography; whether it be as a hobby or business. This may be more than you want to know – but I received a Canon Rebel for Christmas a few years back but (long story short) I dropped it in a large body of water and was never had the opportunity to learn much with it. A couple years after that, I bought my first SLR and the following Christmas, my hubby got me a lense and flash. I have followed the advice of many of my photographer friends and have played around with it quite a bit in order to get to know my camera. The following Christmas, I received Adobe Photoshop and have attempted editing…and have to admit, I am overwhelmed. I need to learn more in order to get better and would love, lOvE, LOVE to win a seat at their He said, She said Workshop!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the most interesting thing I learned was about using an external flash for sun flare… very cool. I would love to see this in action.
I loved the interview! Thanks for making me aware of the this dynamic duo!
I love, love Senior Portraiture, so Travis would probably be speaking directly to me–I’d love to learn more from him.
And, for that matter, I’ve been scared to take on wedding photography, so I’m thinking Jean would most likely inspire me to take the leap.
Thanks to all three of you for the opportunity to attend the workshop!

Left a comment about why I love MCP Actions on their FB!
Just tweeted about the contest! Mentioned @MCPActions!

What an awesome interview, truly enjoyed it! Meaningful questions and rich answers straight to the point. So much to learn and to relate especially that my wife and I are a photography team and I’m the corporate guy who’s waiting for the right moment to switch
I would say the most interesting thing I learned is how support system, i.e. wife and family, is a gift that we should value and never take for granted! Another thing I find interesting is to be Authentic and never limit your inspiration and dreams!
This workshop is so powerful that it can be a major turning point for my life and convince me to make the decision and switch to a full-time photog and do what my smart wife advised me long time ago Of course, with all the overwhelming tips and tricks it will make me a better photog especially the lighting tips! As far as our photography business, it is definitely a game changer to be there and learn from both Jean & Travis’s different experiences with two different types of clients! Also, I am interested to learn how Travis’s MBA helped and enhanced his business performance!
Thanks MCP actions for sharing such a great interview and wondeful people!
cheers,
Khaled Mosli
The most interesting thing I learned was putting the 50mm on backwards to use as macro! Very neat! I would love to attend this workshop – I photograph families, children, babies, and seniors, so it sounds like a perfect learning experience!
http://twitter.com/#!/rbarkowski
Tweeted it!
I think the fun thing with seeing these two photographers together is that there is no one set style that is “the best.” we each have our own…and that is encouraging.
Posted on my facebook page, too!

I’m a natural light girl and I could learn a lot from Travis and his lighting skills. I also love childrens’ photography and would be so interested in anything Jean has to say.
1. The most interesting thing I learned is how her husband is now in the photography business. She did a family shoot for us about 3 years ago, and I love Jean’s work.
2. I’m just starting out, and even though the workshop looks a bit intense, they said it would work for beginners as well!
I thought their advice about only agreeing to do shoots that you are passionate about was great.

I would love to go to this workshop! I would love the inputon my wedding portfolio. I thought it was really interesting to learn that both are fairly new additions to the professional photography world. Plus the tip for the 50mm was really cool!
I saw that someone liked MCP actions…. I did that as well.

What an exciting giveaway. I enjoyed the interview yesterday. I learned I need to figure out what a bare external flash is. (I’m a beginner!)
Thanks! I do like MCP on Facebook and am hoping to take the Elements class in September.
This workshop looks amazing! I loved what they had to say about not burning yourself out by taking on work that doesn’t really speak to you… if only everyone was told that in the beginning. I would love to be entered, pretty please!
I enjoyed reading the interview and the trick of turning the 50mm lens into a macro lens was really interesting. It was also fun to read their two responses to the same question. I have had my camera for 3 years now and would love to take my photography to the next level. It sounds like the workshop would be a really good opportunity to do that. Have already LIKED MCP Actions on facebook, and also posted this link on my facebook page. Thanks!
I love the fact they say to find what you love and shoot that. I think that is my biggest problem in my business. I just want to please everyone. This workshop would help me out to find what I love, to not under-price myself, and also get more confident about my work. I’m getting burnt out and need a fresh vision and passion. I think this workshop could help!
