I’m still a newbie. I’m learning about the differences between different lenses and I find it fascinating.
I have 2 lenses, the one that came with my camera and a telephoto zoom lens. Right now I prefer the one that came with my camera, the AF-S 18-55mm VR lens.

1. Since the birth of our daughter I’ve had to make choices about what to lug around. This lens would be THE perfect all-around lens to keep on my Canon DSLR and bring it with me again, be it on a daily errand, or visiting my mom back in Europe. Also, my girl has learned to mug for the camera, and the speed and VC stabilization of this lens would allow me to sneak up on her in low light!

1. I recently started learning about photography…I had twins just about 2 years ago. As soon as they arrived I wanted to capture every smile, every laugh, every moment. I got frustrated with all the point and shoot cameras…none was fast enough to capture my 2 very active toddlers and decided to upgrade to a Nikon DSLR. My dream is to one day be talented and lucky enought to turn my hobby into possibly a side business. Hopefully allowing me to be able to schedule my time around my childrens schedules so that I could continue to be their to capture every moment of their lives.
2. Being new to photography I only currently have the lens (18-105mm) that came with my Nikon DSLR camera. So far that is the only lens I have had the opportuity to shot with. However I know that if I were to win this lens this would be my favorite after seeing the samples posted on the MCP blog/website.
3. Yes I “LIKE” MCP on Facebook. This was one of my first things I did after deciding to learn about photography. I have learned alot already in a short time thanks to the posts/comments and blog entries…I can not wait to see what is to come!!!

1. This would help my photography as it would give me a wonderful standard zoom with a low aperture. I do not currently have one so I could expand my range.

I shoot sports, action and team photos, so this lens would allow me to go wide when needed while doing team photos without standing so far away with my 75-200 lens. While shooting action, I like to use 200-300 mm, this allows me to stand out of the way of the players but still get that great shot I’m looking for..

I tend to shoot with my 50mm 1.8 if I only bring my camera and a lens, but that is mostly because my Sigma counterpart of this lens is 2.8-4.5 so it doesn’t afford that DoF Bouquet!

I bought my 1st slrd about 6mo ago. Having this lens would be WONDERFUL as I do not yet own such a lens. The 2.8 aperture would be awesome for shooting in low lights with my kids, which I’m always taking pics of. Plus the VC would be great in my amateur hands.
Not sure I have a favorite focus length, but I probably shoot 50mm the most.
1. How would this lens NOT help my photography – impossible! It’s fabulous! I do not have a business but would like to, and photography is an expensive ‘hobby’ now…any lens additions are a huge bonus, especially a wide angle with this range!

1. This lens would be so helpful to me to expand my creativity, and thus grow further with my business. Student loans definitely limit my ability to expand my equipment collection, so I only have one lens that I use for all of my work. I work in low-light conditions on a regular basis, so having a high-quality lens with such a great range AND a constant 2.8 aperture is something I have been saving for for quite some time!
