How To Edit Outdoor Senior Photos Quickly With Photoshop Actions

When senior photography is at a peek and you have back-to-back sessions, you need a quick and effective workflow.  Erin Crista recently attended one of our online Photoshop classes.  We showed her ways to enhance this outdoor senior portrait, and she gave us permission to share her photograph with you. With warmer tones, a stronger crop and a few other tricks, we made the photo stronger (at least in our opinion).

We used Photoshop actions from the MCP Fusion action set, plus a few manual editing techniques.  We listed the editing steps at the bottom of the image.  Let us know what you think.

We also had this one as a past Edit Challenge.  If you want to play along, just edit and come share on our Facebook Page. Read below and download the high resolution file here.

Jodie, I have used some of your actions and love the results. My question is ‘How do I remember what actions or edit on an image if I want to use it again’? I dont like PSDs because I cant see the image in my pictures and I just dont like wasting time looking. Debbie

I will often add the action or the action’s initials to the end of my file name to help me remember which one I used. Like, IMG_3052Lemonade.jpg or IMG_3052EoS.jpg (Exact-o-Sharp)

The best way is to make lists with recipes of what you did. Keep a notebook of your favorites.

    Hi Jodi,
I love this before and after, thank you for sharing. I have your fusion set and love it! Did you happen to use sharpening on this photo as well, and if so, do you mind telling me if it was one that is on the fusion set? Thanks so much.
