If you use Photoshop or Elements, at some time you will feel like the program has gone crazy and weird things keep happening. While there are other reasons for it too, deleting/refreshing your preferences is often the fix. We recommend you PIN this graphic explaining the solution to your boards or save it for when you need it most. We will be adding more “quick tips” if this is helpful so be sure to let us know.

Hello. I am having these same problems and was thrilled to see there might be a fix. However I can’t seem to get it to work. I have pse 11 and it opens with a screen that asked you to choose either “Organizer” or “Photo Editor”. Is this where I should hold down the keys? Or after I choose “Photo Editor?” I really want this to work. lol Please help. Thank you.Paula
You need to hold those keys nearly at the same time you launch the program. Keep them helped down until after it opens to see the message.
Will this lose all of my custom brushes? I seem to lose them easily :/
Help! I just did this as my PSE was acting super slow and now all my actions and brushes are gone. Do I have to load up everything again!? Ugh, In the middle of client edits.
I did face the problem with my pse 10, still this problem has not fixed I mean when should I hold down the keys? Please explain it in details. Thanks!
Keys held as you start up – immediately. Do not let go of them till the message appears. If you wait, you will not see the message and you will need to try again.
Thanks Jodi, It really helped me this time.
